CRONULLA SERVICE
This year's Dawn Service holds special significance, marking 100 years of Anzac Day commemorations in Cronulla.
While the Cronulla RSL Sub-Branch marked its centenary last year, the service itself reaches this milestone in 2026, following a pause in one year due to COVID.
Veterans will march from the RSL Club at 5.30am to Cronulla Park, where the service will be held against the backdrop of the sun rising over the ocean.
Cronulla RSL will open from 4am to welcome early arrivals.
About 10.30am, historic aircraft from WWll and the Vietnam War will take part in a fly past over Cronulla.
A De Havilland DHC-4 Caribou and Douglas C-47B Dakota, from the HARS Aviation Museum at Albion Park, will do three orbits, subject to weather and operational conditions.
Squadron Leader Madeline Edwards. Picture supplied
The Dawn Service at the Miranda War Memorial will start with a march from Wandella Road at 5.30am.
The address will be given RAAF Squadron Leader Madeline Edwards.
Squadron Leader Edwards joined the Air Force as a Personnel Capability Officer graduating from the Australian Defence Force Academy in 2017 with a Bachelor of Business.
Her service has included two stints in the Middle East and performing the role as Aide-de-Camp to the Chief of Defence Force.
The Dawn Service concludes at 6.45am and participants are welcome to move to the RSL Club, which opens at 7am, with breakfast available from that time.
BAGPIPES AT DAWN
Bagpipes will be a feature of Dawn Services at Menai and Woronora.
A piper will play at 5.15am before the 5.30am service at the Memorial Wall in Parc Menai.
Club Central Menai, which organised the event, will open at 6am with breakfast.
At the Woronora War Memorial, bagpipes are scheduled for 5.55am, with the service at 6am. Breakfast at the adjoining Woronora RSL and Citizens Club will be at 7am.
CARINGBAH LEADS OFF
The Dawn Service at the Caringbah War memorial is always the first to be held.
A march along Kingsway will start at 4.10am, with the service starting at 4.20am.
Former MP Barry Collier will read the award-winning poem Let Us Also Remember, which he published in 2018 and pays tribute to those those at home and those who returned from WWl.
