Last month Bayside Council endorsed a proposal to partially demolish the Dolls Point wharf which was closed to the public in 2009 after it was found to have significant concrete cancer and deterioration.
Councillors Vicki Poulos, Michael Nagi and Peter Strong have lodged a rescission motion for debate at Wednesday's week's council meeting in an attempt to save the wharf.
If their rescission motion is successful, the three councillors will move that the council no longer endorse the demolition of the Dolls Point Wharf and that a detailed design report be prepared within six months outlining options for the full restoration of the Dolls Point Wharf.
This would include an allocation of funding for the restoration works from the council's 2027-28 Capital Works Budget or a subsequent capital works program.
In their supporting statement, the councilors said, "There is overwhelming community support and passion to restore the Dolls Point Wharf for safe community use. An upgraded wharf will have an expected design life of 40-50 years. Visitors and families should once again be able enjoy the benefits of this wharf and the passive recreational activities it encourages."
