Seahawks Receive True Thoughts on Super Bowl Repeat Chances

The Seattle Seahawks did lose key players from last season’s Super Bowl-winning team, such as Riq Woolen, Kenneth Walker III, Coby Bryant, and Boye Mafe, among others, who left via free agency this offseason.

Despite being the champions and having turnover, Kay Adams believes that many are undervaluing the Seahawks’ chances of winning back-to-back Super Bowl titles heading into the 2026 NFL season.

“We are sleeping on [the Seahawks] a little bit, and I’m not paying lip service to this,” Adams said on the May 4 edition of “Up & Adams.” “It is May. I feel like we turned the page quicker than ever, and I do think that’s a little bit on the court.

“I think they’re not out there saying, ‘We won the Super Bowl. They’re not out there marketing this, but it’s May, and we have barely talked about how they could do a back-to-back.”

Moreover, Adams explained why she believes Seattle has a strong chance of winning a second straight Super Bowl despite some departures.

“They’re returning 20 of 22 starters from what was a historically dominant Super Bowl team, Adams added. “Champions barely ever get to run it back to this degree, and if we’ve learned anything about that sicko Mike Macdonald, rest assured this is a top-to-bottom thing of turning the page, being humble, not taking your victory lap.

“The word complacency is absolutely absent from his vocabulary, as is showmanship and victory lap. I know that it’s very low-hanging fruit to say they could do it, they could go back-to-back and get it to happen.”

Richard Sherman on Seattle’s Repeat Chances

If the Seahawks do want to repeat, they will need to come out of arguably the toughest NFL division: The NFC West, with the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers.

If the Seahawks slip, it opens the door for the Rams or Niners to take the division. Despite the concern over Seattle’s losses, former Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is confident in the team’s chances of repeating as champions.

“Nothing this offseason has led me to believe the Seattle Seahawks are not going to be the favorites going into this season, Sherman said on the April 10 edition of “The Richard Sherman Podcast. ‘ Oh man, they’ve lost so many pieces,I’m not under that same impression.

“They have lost pieces that they feel like they can replace, and I can agree with that. I think the same thing; I think Kenneth Walker is a guy that had an incredible run through the playoffs, an incredible end of the season, and made a lot of plays, including the Super Bowl MVP.

“I don’t think they saw him as an irreplaceable piece to this team. Obviously, he split time with Zach Charbonnet throughout most of the season. I think Coby Bryant, they feel like Taya Carter did a great job throughout the season.”

Can Current Seahawks Player Elevate Their Game Even More?

Moreover, Sherman believes that current Seahawks players, such as Sam Darnold, can further elevate their games to help the team improve its chances of repeating in the 2026 NFL season.

“Sam Darnold had a really good season, but he’s going to be better in his second year, Sherman added. “He’s going to have fewer than 20 turnovers, I would believe. Don’t quote me, or quote me. The video is there forever. But throughout the playoffs, he showed that he could play mistake-free football.

“I think that’s a big reason they went on to win the Super Bowl, because he played mistake-free football. He had 20 turnovers throughout the season and zero in the playoffs. And if he can play like that for a majority of the season next year, they’ll win more games than they won this year, or as many games as they won this year, and be an even stronger team.”
