Jeremiyah Love has a shocking take on Seattle Seahawks 2026 NFL draft first-round pick Jadarian Price.

Not everybody was a fan of the Seattle Seahawks using the 32nd pick in the 2026 NFL draft to select running back Jadarian Price, but his former Notre Dame teammate Jeremiyah Love, taken off the board 29 picks earlier by NFC West rivals the Arizona Cardinals, has a shock take about the potential new workhorse for the Super Bowl LX champions.

Love took the lion’s share of the carries ahead of Price in college, but he still told Doug Farrar of Athlon Sports, shortly before the Seahawks took his former running mate, “JD can do everything I can do. I think the reason that JD isn’t viewed in the light I am is because, you know, I’ve had the spotlight at Notre Dame. I’ve been the main premier back, and I feel like JD could have gone anywhere else in the country and been the main premier back. He’s a great running back. And he has some tools in his bag that I don’t have.”

That’s a bold take from arguably the most dynamic skill player in this class. A game-breaker who believes he’s actually inferior to Seattle’s new would-be RB1 in a few key areas.

Love wasn’t bashful when he frankly admitted to Farrar, “I think JD’s feet are faster than mine. He’s a little bit more explosive than me from his first step. He can break more tackles than me, too.”

If the Seahawks get the player Love describes, general manager John Schneider will have adequately replaced Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III. Albeit at a hefty price.

Schneider entered the opening round armed with a paltry four picks, and he seemed willing to trade back for more. Instead, the Seahawks stayed put and played the board to land a prospect Schneider was actually worried he’d miss.

While the GM is optimistic about what Price can bring to a backfield sans Walker, who got paid by the Kansas City Chiefs, not everybody believes the Seahawks made the smart pick.

Seahawks Defied Draft Critics

Among those far from enamoured with the Seahawks choosing Price, Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis highlighted the following worrying statistics: “4 fumbles despite light workload #3 highest fumble rate in class #2 worst pass protection grade in class only 9.9% target rate on routes #2 lowest in class (just 15 total receptions in his entire career) only RB to be drafted in Round 1 with less than 125 touches in any season in his career.”

Making a running back with numbers like these a first-rounder was called “bad operating procedure” by members of The Athletic Football Show. Meanwhile, Bryce DeGroat of Walter Picks was even more scathing, dubbing the pick an “Absolute joke of a move. Insane reach.”

The intensity of some of the arguments against the Seahawks taking Price is surprising. Particularly when the Seahawks still can’t provide clarity about when veteran bruiser Zach Charnonnet will be healthy.

Charbonnet will be a feature of a backfield committee once he’s fully recovered from tearing his ACL in last season’s playoffs. So will free-agency addition Emanuel Wilson, who is already touted as a potential breakout player.

Splitting carries is what the Seahawks did better than any team in the NFL last season, before Charbonnet got injured and Walker found his postseason groove. The multi-back ground attack can still remain the engine of this offense now Price, who got used to a work-share in college, is in the mix.

He may even provide the Seahawks a few tips on how to contain Love twice a season.
