SC Freiburg advanced to their first-ever European final after defeating SC Braga 3–1 at the Europa-Park Stadion, winning the semi-final 4–3 on aggregate.

The decisive third goal arrived in the 72nd minute when Lukas Kübler scored his second of the night with a header from a cross delivered by Vincenzo Grifo.

Braga responded in the 79th minute through Pau Víctor, who scored from close range to briefly give the visitors hope of a comeback. However, Freiburg remained composed during the closing stages.

Earlier in the half, Grifo had struck the post, while Braga goalkeeper Lukáš Horníček produced an impressive double save to prevent the scoreline from becoming even heavier.

The victory also matched Sevilla FC’s Europa League record of 11 consecutive home wins in the competition.

Freiburg will now face Aston Villa FC in the Europa League final in Istanbul on May 20 after Villa eliminated Nottingham Forest FC in the other semi-final.
