Juan Soto is finally back for the New York Mets, but his return comes at a dark time in Queens, where the Mets have lost 12-straight games.

On Wednesday, Soto is officially being reinstated off the Injured List with a calf strain. Mets’ reporter Anthony DiComo wrote (on April 22): “Roster move: to clear space for Juan Soto, the Mets optioned third catcher Hayden Senger back to Triple-A Syracuse.”

“Soto is active and in tonight’s starting lineup.”

The addition of Juan Soto will surely propel the Mets to some wins, but in bizarre fashion, Juan Soto answered a question before the Twins-Mets game on Wednesday.

Juan Soto Says He Hasn’t Talked to Teammates During 12 Game Losing Streak

GettyJuan Soto is widely regarded as the best player on the Mets.

The sky has fallen in Queens, and even more drama arises on Wednesday when Juan Soto reveals he has not spoken with his teammates much since the losing streak began on April 7.

While speaking with reporters before the Twins game, Soto had this to say:

“No, not at all. They’ve been on the road most of the time. I haven’t talked to them”

While they have been on the road most of the time (facing the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs), the Mets returned home this past weekend and have been in New York since Monday.

During the early stretch of the losing streak, the Mets had a three-game set with the Athletics. Soto has been working his way back from a calf injury, but no messaging to the team during a rough losing stretch? Ouch. Juan Soto’s contract is for 15 years and $765 million. Not even like a ‘good luck’ or ‘today is the day’ message. Not trying to stir the pot here, but this Soto storyline might highlight an overarching issue with this Mets team, and that’s the fact they are not playing as a team.

Will Juan Soto Help the Mets Turn Things Around?

If the Mets can put this Soto comment (and the 12-game losing streak) behind them, they might just be able to go on a bit of a winning streak, but sitting at 7-16 (worst record in MLB) and in total free fall isn’t exactly a welcome sign for New York.

Juan Soto will have to completely carry this offense, which he has the capabilities of doing, but opposing pitchers will still work around him to force other members of the Mets to beat them.

All hope might already be lost in Queens, but considering it’s just April, there’s so much baseball left to be played, and the storylines/rumors/updates are not going to go away.

In eight games this season, Soto is hitting .355 with two doubles and one home run.
