The last few seasons, the New York Giants have struggled to find stability at the kicker position.

Graham Gano, despite having some good moments throughout his six-year run in New York, was incredibly inconsistent the last few seasons and often injury-prone.

It’s why new head coach John Harbaugh, who you may or may not know previously served as a special teams coordinator, has made sure to overhaul the room this offseason.

In free agency, they signed former Miami Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders, and still have Ben Sauls under contract.

But they also added an undrafted free agent kicker, Dominic Zvada, out of Michigan, shortly after the 2026 NFL Draft ended.

All three specialists expect to have a chance to compete for the full-time job this summer, but may be the early favorite according to Bleacher Report.

Dominic Zvada Tabbed Most Likely UDFA to Make Giants 53-Man Roster

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox not only believes Zvada will win the New York Giants kicking job, but is the most likely of any of the team’s undrafted free agents to make the final cut at the end of training camp.

“As you might have heard, the New York Giants hired John Harbaugh as their new head coach this offseason. Harbaugh’s background is in special teams. He regularly prioritized the unit in Baltimore. He’ll likely do the same in New York, which is why Michigan kicker Dominic Zvada has a real chance to make the roster,” wrote Knox.

“The Giants shuffled through multiple kickers last season. They’ll undoubtedly look to find some stability this year…Signing Zvada as a UDFA made sense. The former Wolverine should have a fair shot in an open competition.”

Despite not having as much experience as the other kickers he’ll be competing with, Zvada has a fairly decorated college career coming with him into the pros.

He was a four-year starter across two programs, Arkansas State and Michigan, and appeared in 51 games.

His freshman season and junior seasons were easily his best; he made 94.4% and 95.5% of his field goals, respectively, and only missed two extra points.

Zvada comes with a decent leg as well; his career-long field goal make is a respectable 56 yards.

Do Jason Sanders and Ben Sauls Have a Chance?

The other New York Giants kickers have experience on their side, especially in the case of Sanders.

Sauls has three games of NFL experience under his belt, kicking in three games for the Giants last season. He made all eight of his field goal attempts and was perfect on extra points.

Sanders, meanwhile, has a fairly illustrious career himself. Over seven seasons with the Miami Dolphins, he made 84.6% of his kicks and was voted first-team All-Pro in 2020.

The problem is, his best days could be behind him. He missed all of the 2025 season with a hip injury and was released by the Dolphins this offseason.

That didn’t stop the Giants from signing him early in free agency, and it certainly means New York’s coaching staff believes he still has some juice left in his leg.

We’ll see how the Giants’ kicking competition pans out this summer, but in the meantime, Zvada seems like a solid choice to make the final 53-man roster.
