Former Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III is transitioning to a new team and offense after signing with the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason. Walker and Kansas City agreed to a three-year deal worth $43.05 million, including $28.7 million fully guaranteed, ESPN reported.

With OTAs and mandatory minicamps on the horizon, Walker will need to begin adjusting to the Chiefs’ coaches and terminology. Moreover, the Super Bowl LX MVP has already received words from offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy as he adjusts to life in Kansas City’s offense.

In a May 4 interview with Kay Adams, Walker, who had Klint Kubiak as his offensive coordinator last season, spoke about now being under Bieniemy.

“Just intense,” Walker told Adams. “Like from the first night I met him, it wasn’t even like we were just meeting up, going to dinner. He was talking about stuff that I did wrong on the field, and just talking about everything I need to be detailed at.

“I knew what I was getting into when I met him. And, you know, he just wants the best for everybody. But, you know, he’s got high standards, and that’s good if you want to get better.”

Moreover, Walker went into detail about the flaws Bieniemy saw in his game, as the Chiefs turn to him as their RB1 after sharing the responsibilities with Zach Charbonnet during his time in Seattle.

“He was talking about everything, just everything: Detail, run game, blocking, pass game, just everything,” Walker added. “He would just mention things that he’s going to coach me on and stuff like that.”

As a result, being the feature back will come with more criticism. Nonetheless, Walker will have to show he’s ready for the workload and look to build on his 2025 season, which led to his major payday.

During his final season with Seattle, Walker turned in one of the top performances among running backs, earning an 88.4 overall grade from PFF. Furthermore, the former Seahawks standout posted 90.2 rushing grade as he logged 221 carries for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 4.6 yards per attempt.

Walker also showed his ability to create yards on his own, forcing 61 missed tackles and averaging 3.0 yards after contact per carry. In the passing game, he was reliable as well, hauling in 31 of his 34 targets for 282 yards, though he did not record a receiving touchdown.

Although these are all great numbers, the Chiefs likely expect more from Walker now that he’s the main guy.

As Walker begins a new life in Kansas City, he recently told NBC Sports NFL insider Mike Florio on the May 4 edition of PFT PM that he knew it was time to leave Seattle.

“I would say, if I’m being honest, sometime during the season,” Walker told Florio. “Things didn’t work out how I expected, and that’s all right because it worked out for the team. But yeah, it was during the season, and then once free agency came around, you pretty much knew you weren’t going to be there anymore. Me personally, I knew I wasn’t going to be there anymore.”
