The PGA Championship is set to begin this week, and all eyes are once again on Jordan Spieth as he returns to the major tournament spotlight.

Back in 2015, Spieth was in prime form. He captured victories at the Masters Tournament, the U.S. Open, the Valspar Championship, the Hero World Challenge, and the Tour Championship by Coca-Cola to become the FedExCup Champion. He also recorded four runner-up finishes and 15 top-10 finishes during his most dominant season.

At the time, the Texas native was just 21 years old and quickly becoming one of golf’s most popular stars.

Can Jordan Spieth Complete Career Grand Slam?

After winning both the Masters and the U.S. Open in 2015, Spieth claimed his third major title just two years later at the 2017 Open Championship. Now 32 years old, Spieth will make his 10th attempt at winning the PGA Championship. An accomplishment that would also secure his career Grand Slam.

Currently ranked World No. 51, Spieth believes he still has the ability to contend. He just needs every part of his game to come together at the same time.

“If you look at the stats, it’s a whack-a-mole situation,” Spieth said. “I have had weeks where I’m leading in putting, weeks where I’m leading in driving, weeks where I am leading in ball-striking and then I just haven’t been able to kind of put them all together.”

As for the pressure surrounding the event, Spieth’s response was reflective.

“As far as the career Grand Slam, this tournament’s always highlighted,” he said. “If I can win one more tournament in my life, it would obviously be this one for that reason.”

“But,” he added. “The easiest way to do that is to not try to, in a weird way. Just go out and get ready for the first hole, get a good game plan in and attack it the way it needs to be attacked.”

2026 Season

So far this season, Spieth has yet to record a victory. However, he has shown more consistency than in recent years. Following a T12 finish at the Masters Tournament, he has now posted six top-25 finishes in 2026.

According to ESPN, Spieth remains confident heading into the PGA Championship.

“The good news is [that] within this season I’ve been able to lead in each statistic, so I should be confident that I have at least each part of the game as a weapon,” Spieth said. “It’s just focusing on the right things, putting it together, limiting the mistakes, and then when something feels a little bit off, managing to be able to shoot a couple under par versus a couple over par.”

“It’s pushing the low ones just a couple strokes lower and limiting the bad ones by a stroke or two,” Spieth said. “If I can shave off a stroke a round like anybody would like to, it’s a big difference. But I think it’s a little simpler for me this year than it has been in other years to feel like I could do that.”

With the PGA Championship set to tee off on Thursday, May 14th, Spieth once again finds himself chasing history. While his recent seasons have lacked aspects that defined his early career, signs of progress remain. If Spieth can finally put every aspect of his game together over four rounds, he will have a chance to contend for another major title, and possibly join golf’s most exclusive group by completing the career Grand Slam.
