Rams Urged to Sign 49ers Free Agent WR Jauan Jennings

The Los Angeles Rams could bolster their group with veteran wide receiver Jauan Jennings.

The Los Angeles Rams drafted for the future, and they could do themselves a tremendous favor by adding someone like Jauan Jennings.

Jennings remains a free agent with the draft in the rearview.

His game checks several boxes that the Rams often look for at the position. The Rams could bolster their group and hinder the division rival San Francisco 49ers by signing former Jennings, and ex-LA QB Jim Everett believes LA should be on the phone.

Rams Great Jim Everett Pushes for Jauan Jennings Signing

GettyLos Angeles Rams great Jim Everett is pushing for Jauan Jennings in free agency.

The Rams are very familiar with Jennings, who began his career as a seventh-round pick with the 49ers. Jennings’ continued stay in free agency could be a red flag, but Everett urged the Rams to entertain the idea of bringing the 6-foot-3, 212-pound wideout on.

“Phone rings…it’s Jauan Jennings agent again on line 1,” Everett posted on X on April 27. “…ask him if his price is right yet? [sheep/ram and arrow up emojis].”

Jennings had 55 receptions for 643 yards and a career-high 9 touchdowns last season.

His return to the 49ers seemingly took a hit after San Francisco drafted Ole Miss’ De’Zhaun Stribling with the 33rd overall pick of the draft. The Rams chose Miami’s CJ Daniels, who has a physical profile similar to that of Davante Adams.

However, counting on a rookie is risky, particularly for a team with Super Bowl aspirations like the Rams.

“This is exactly why veteran FAs wait until AFTER the draft to negotiate & sign,” Everett said in another post, adding “Some teams ignored their needs in the draft…so this gives the right FA leverage to name his price” and offering a warning that “the window can slam shut, once another veteran lands there.

“Who’s signing where next? [eyes looking emoji].”

Jauan Jennings Fits Mold for Sean McVay WR

GettyJauan Jennings fits the mold of what Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay wants at wide receiver.

The Rams are deep at receiver without Jennings, with Daniels joining Adams, Puka Nacua, 2025 seventh-round pick Konata Mumpfield, and 2024 sixth-rounder Jordan Whittington.

Rams head coach Sean McVay expressed confidence in the group.

Still, Daniels’ addition suggests the Rams would like more from the supporting cast behind Adams and Nacua. Moreover, Jennings would bring a track record of production to the group if LA signed him.

The Athletic’s Daniel Popper ranked him as WR4 and the 23rd-best free agent on the market when the offseason began.

“Jennings is a big, physical receiver who can win through contact,” Popper wrote in February. “He was a red zone weapon in 2025, finishing with seven touchdowns inside the 20, tied for the third-most in the NFL. Jennings is an asset as a blocker in the run game, the best blocking receiver in this free-agent class. Jennings plays with urgency and edge, and he is explosive in his releases off the line of scrimmage.”

His blocking and physicality would play well in the Rams’ offense under McVay.

Jauan Jennings’ Asking Price Remains Key

GettyJauan Jennings could have to settle for a one-year, prove-it deal this late in free agency.

Popper projected a three-year, $42 million contract for Jennings, while Spotrac projected a three-year, $67.8 million pact. That kind of money is unlikely to materialize, despite the leverage Everette’s comments suggest Jennings has.

Jennings and the Rams would need to find a sweet spot that compensates the player but also keeps the team flexible.

The fit is clear for both sides, though.
