The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for a pivotal season as they strive to finally break through and reach the Super Bowl, a goal that has eluded them for the past six years.

After falling short in last season’s AFC divisional round game, Buffalo made some significant changes, including parting ways with head coach Sean McDermott and promoting offensive coordinator Joe Brady to take the helm.

With this major shift, the Bills will need to perform better than they did under McDermott. However, Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon highlighted what could potentially be Buffalo’s “nightmare” scenario for this season.

“Despite mixing things up at the top and bringing in a shiny new receiver, the Bills fall short of the AFC title game for the fifth time in six years,” Gagnon wrote on Friday.

Buffalo Added DJ Moore

Promoting Brady to head coach wasn’t the only major move the Bills made this offseason. They also traded a 2026 second-round pick to the Chicago Bears in exchange for wide receiver DJ Moore.

Moore is expected to come to Buffalo and immediately help quarterback Josh Allen. While Moore might not be among the top 10 receivers in the NFL, he was likely the best option the Bills could secure in finding a veteran player for Allen. He’ll need to step up and make an impact right away.

The 29-year-old receiver just wrapped up a season in which he recorded 50 receptions for 682 yards and six touchdowns over 17 games. While those numbers might not jump off the page, Moore played in a Bears offense that leaned heavily on the run, sharing the field with other talented playmakers like wide receiver Rome Odunze, Colston Loveland and Luther Burden III.

Moore will need to step up and embrace a more significant role with the Bills than he had with the Bears. He’ll be playing with a quarterback in Allen who is much better than the one he had in Chicago. If anyone can bring out the best in their receivers, it’s definitely the guy wearing No. 17 in Buffalo.

Brady And Moore Worked Together in Carolina

Brady and Moore already have a connection from when Brady was the offensive coordinator with the Carolina Panthers in 2020 and 2021, during which Moore played for the Panthers. Brady still believes that Moore is the same talented player he coached in Carolina.

“You try not to go into it and be like, ‘Hey, I remember what the player was and let’s just do it.’ It’s natural in football,” Brady said on March 28, via NFL.com;s Bobby Kownack. “Five years is a long time. But the player that I turned on the tape wasn’t any different in terms of the way that he moved, the skill set, the opportunity, the big plays, using him in a bunch of different ways. I saw that, and I didn’t see a guy that has had any drop-off. I saw a guy that there’s a clear vision for how we’re going to utilize him and get the ball in his hands. I know him and Josh, there’s been a lot of work this offseason getting them on the same page, but I’m really excited about where that’s gonna go.”
