On Thursday, the Chicago White Sox got the day off.
They will now begin a series with the San Diego Padres that starts on Friday night in California.

With the season over one month in, it’s worth noting that a former White Sox All-Star is still a free agent.
Tim Anderson is available to be signed by any team in the MLB.
Last season, the 32-year-old appeared in 31 games for the Los Angeles Angels.

Anderson was the 17th pick in the 2013 MLB Draft.
He spent the first eight years of his career playing for the White Sox.
In 2021 and 2022, Anderson made back-to-back All-Star Games.
Over 895 games in Chicago, he batted .282 with 98 home runs, 338 RBI’s, 528 runs and 117 stolen bases.

Following the White Sox, Anderson played one season for the Miami Marlins (and one for the Angels).
However, he was never able to return to All-Star form.
It will be interesting to see if another team picks up Anderson before the end of the 2026 season.
At his age, he is still worth taking a look at.
Yahoo Sports (wrote on July 3, 2024): “In 2019, Tim Anderson won the AL batting title with the White Sox. On Tuesday, he was designated for assignment by the Marlins as his years-long downward spiral reached a new low.”

As for the current White Sox, they are 14-17 in 31 games, which has them as the third-place team in the American League Central.
They are 7-9 in the 16 games they have played on the road.
The franchise last made the MLB playoffs in 2021 (with Anderson).
