The Green Bay Packers, and indeed the league at-large were taken by surprise when it came out that running back Josh Jacobs turned himself in to Hobart-Lawrence Police Station on May 26 after a warrant was issued for his arrest three days earlier.
Jacobs faces three charges of domestic abuse, including battery, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct. He also faces a charge of strangulation and suffocation, along with intimidating a victim.
Acting quickly, the National Football League has issued a statement, per The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman.

According to WISN 12 News’ David Melendez, a Packers spokesman also released a similar statement on the situation.

“We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs.” Melendez quotes Green Bay’s spokesperson as saying. “As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment.”
Jacobs is reportedly being held without bond
Jacobs has had a near perfect record in his personal life before this most recent legal situation, having never found himself in the midst of a legal dispute or controversy.
Part of that would have been the reason that the Packers felt comfortable donning him a four year, $48 million free agent deal back in March 2024.
Jacobs was most recently be confirmed to have been dating model Ash Kaash. Although it is not unconfirmed how long the pair have been dating for, the running back confirmed back in February that he has known her since 2021.
It is not known who the victim is in the arrest of Jacobs.
A trial or arraignment will come next, assuming that the charges are not spontaneously dropped, and more information will be unveiled as to who the plaintiff is and what exactly may have happened in the situation.
Four of the five charges against the Alabama alum are misdemeanours; battery, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and intimidation of a victim are Class A and B misdemeanours, whilst strangulation and suffocation is a felony.
If convicted of the latter, Jacobs could face up to six years in prison, whilst the other four combined could see him be given up to a maximum of an additional one and a half to two years jail time.
Even if he is not convicted, this will certainly not look good for him as a Packer. However, the team have not made any indication that they plan to release or move on from him at this time.
