President Donald Trump said he wants to see Rory playing Bryson DeChambeau after LIV Golf collapse.

President Donald Trump weighed in on the future of professional golf following a major development involving LIV Golf. The Saudi Arabia-backed league is preparing to lose its primary financial support. The Public Investment Fund (PIF) confirmed it will end funding after the 2026 season, creating uncertainty around the league and its players.

Speaking at the White House, Trump addressed the situation while also referencing the ongoing PGA Tour event at Trump National Doral, the Cadillac Championship. During the exchange, he was informed that Jordan Spieth was among the leaders, prompting a brief reaction before shifting focus to the broader state of golf.

“I do believe that all of the golfers should be playing against each other,” Trump said. “I want to see Rory playing Bryson DeChambeau. I want to see big Jon Rahm playing… Scottie, who’s so great.”

🚨 JUST NOW — Q: “Saudi Arabia is pulling the plug on LIV Golf. Once that tour is gone, do you think the PGA Tour should welcome the defectors back with open arms?”

PRESIDENT TRUMP: “Well, I do. In fact, if I had time, I’d love to watch television today because the PGA Tour is

The comments come at a time when the sport faces renewed questions about reunification, particularly as LIV Golf’s financial backing is set to end and multiple players explore potential returns to the PGA Tour.

Trump made it clear he favors a unified professional golf landscape, emphasizing that fans benefit most when top players compete regularly.

“They have great players on LIV Golf,” Trump said. “It’s almost like people want to see that. That’s why the Masters were so good, because you saw everybody together.”

He highlighted several high-profile names, including Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and Scottie Scheffler. He noted the appeal of having them compete in the same events. His remarks reflect a broader sentiment within golf following the success of major championships, where players from both tours still compete together.

Trump also addressed the possibility of LIV golfers returning to the PGA Tour, expressing confidence that reintegration would happen.

“Now, they’ll all be accepted by the Tour… because they’re great,” he said. “The Tour wants to have the best player. You can’t have the best player that they’re boycotting.”

His stance aligns with recent developments, as discussions around pathways for LIV players to return have intensified following the funding announcement.

Trump’s comments came as the PGA Tour’s Cadillac Championship is being held at Trump National Doral. It marks the return of a top-tier event to the venue for the first time in a decade. The tournament has drawn attention not only for its field but also for the broader changes in the professional golf landscape.

At the same time, LIV Golf is scheduled to host an event at another Trump-owned course in the coming weeks.

The uncertainty surrounding LIV Golf follows PIF’s decision to withdraw funding after investing more than $5 billion into the league. In response, LIV has shifted its focus to securing new financial partners and restructuring its leadership through a newly established independent board.

Some players have already begun moving back toward the PGA Tour. Brooks Koepka returned through a one-time program, while Patrick Reed has signaled plans to rejoin once eligible. Other players, including DeChambeau and Rahm, remain central figures in ongoing discussions about the sport’s future.

Trump also reflected on the quality of LIV players, adding, “They’re great players. I play with them, they’re very good. When I think I’m a good player and then I play with them, I don’t think I’m that good.”

With the PGA Tour continuing its schedule and LIV Golf facing structural changes, the coming months are expected to play a key role in determining whether professional golf moves toward reunification or continues operating with separate tours.
