Stefon Diggs Draft

Stefon Diggs was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft with the 146th overall pick.

Perhaps the Washington Commandersbiggest question mark revolves around the wide receiver position. While they did draft Clemson Tigers pass-catcher Antonio Williams in the third round, the team could still use an established threat opposite Terry McLaurin. Washington has been rumored to be exploring San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk, although they appear to be stuck waiting for the 49ers to release him. With the Aiyuk situation in a standstill, former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs has emerged as a popular pitch candidate

Stefon Diggs Stats

GettyWide receiver Stefon Diggs has recorded 943 catches for 11,504 yards and 74 touchdowns across 11 seasons in the NFL.

Diggs recently fueled rumors of him playing for his hometown team in an interview with 106.7 The Fan. While at his Diggs Deep Foundation event in DC, the four-time Pro Bowler was asked about his free agent options and if he’s talked to any of the Commanders players.

Diggs responded, “Yeah, a little bit. I’m familiar with the city and familiar with the people, so we’re going to see down the pipe of these next couple of months what looks good, what makes sense. I definitely want to shed some light on them, and you know, might go check them out for a little bit…It’s love, it’s hometown, so you know, it makes sense.”

Stefon Diggs 2025

GettyWide receiver Stefon Diggs recorded 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in 2025 as a member of the New England Patriots.

Diggs was the leading receiver on a Super Bowl-bound Patriots team last season. He surpassed 1,000 yards for the seventh time in his career despite coming off an ACL tear. His presence would certainly balance out Washington’s passing attack.

Diggs isn’t the only player who is intrigued by the potential of him joining the Commanders, either. Former Washington wide receiver Pierre Garçon weighed in on X to urge the Commanders to sign Diggs.

Former Washington WR Pierre Garçon Believes Commanders Will Sign Diggs

Garçon reposted a rumor about Washington being Diggs’s preference with, “This would be really good for both sides”, followed by a smattering of hands up emojis and then, “I believe it will happen.”

Garçon played for 11 seasons and spent time in Washington from 2012 to 2016. Garçon’s best season came in 2013 when he posted a career-high 1,346 receiving yards.

Pierre Garcon Stats

GettyWide receiver Pierre Garçon recorded 628 receptions for 7,854 yards and 38 touchdowns across 148 games played with Indianapolis, Washington, and San Francisco.

Dan Quinn Believes New OC David Blough Has Been Excellent So Far

Regardless of whether the Commanders add another receiving threat, their offense is expected to look different in 2026. Washington moved on from former OC Kliff Kingsbury and replaced him with first-time coordinator David Blough.

Head coach Dan Quinn met with the media at the start of the team’s offseason program and expressed excitement about the changes Blough has been implementing.

“I think it’s fun to see him [David Blough] install the whole thing, you know, in front of the room, an identity of what we’d like to be of the different teachings,” Quinn stated. So, there’s quite a bit of new terminology for the players that were here from (2024) and ‘25, so to see the different things that we’re emphasizing, and him right in the front of it all, it’s been excellent. One of the things I’ve been impressed by is his ability and the staff to really function together.”

Washington hopes that all the work they have done in the offseason so far will pay massive dividends for them during the season as the opening kickoff gets closer each day.
