The New York Yankees received a piece of Jasson Dominguez news on Wednesday. He had to be removed from the Yankees’ matchup with the Texas Rangers after being hit by a pitch.

It’s unclear how impactful the injury is, but with all the Yankees’ success, it’s fair to think of New York as a prime World Series contender. That means they could be uber aggressive in terms of trades. A recent MLB mock trade idea by SI.com’s Ryan Shea features a massive six-player deal that includes Jasson Dominguez, Jhoan Duran, Spencer Jones, and other prospects. The Philadelphia Philles need to turn their season around, or they will start to receive a lot of calls on players like Duran.

On Wednesday morning, a report by MLB insider Jon Morosi noted that trade talks may be starting early this season:

“One MLB trend to watch: Trade activity is starting early this year.”

“Dave Dombrowski said yesterday: “I’ve had trade conversations earlier than I ever have . . . Other clubs haven’t been doing very well, either. Clubs have called around.”

Yankees-Phillies Massive Trade Idea Details

Per Ryan Shea, here are the full details of the mock trade:

“Phillies Acquire: OF Jasson Domínguez, OF Spencer Jones, RHP Cade Smith

Yankees Acquire: RHP Jhoan Duran, LHP Cade Obermueller, OF Gabriel Rincones Jr.”

The basis for this one on the New York side would be because of the Yankees’ World Series aspirations, and the fact that they don’t necessarily have a certified ‘closer’, although David Bednar has been really effective in save chances since being traded.

Jhoan Duran is also set to become a free agent at season’s end, so this trade idea might even benefit the Phillies by getting such a strong return haul. In 2026, Duran has pitched 6.2 innings and given up just one earned run with five saves in seven appearances. He’s currently injured and has been sorely missed by the Phillies.

Jasson Dominguez has had very mixed results with the Yankees and seems to be in constant circulation of trade rumors.

This question hinges on how injured Jasson Dominguez is after today’s injury, but Spencer Jones, who is also mentioned in the trade idea, has been a prime subject of rumors and speculation. The reason for that is that the Yankees’ outfield group is pretty much full, and Jasson Dominguez was only recalled due to Giancarlo Stanton’s injury.
