The Knicks Conference Finals Just Got a Legendary Voice on the Call
The New York Knicks are in the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight year, and they are playing some of the best basketball this city has seen in decades.
Now, they are getting the voice to match the moment.
According to a post by @NBA_NewYork on X, ESPN’s Mike Breen will call every Knicks game in the conference finals, and if New York makes it to the NBA Finals, he will be there for that too. ESPN holds the broadcast rights for both the Eastern Conference Finals and the Finals.

For those unfamiliar, Breen has a signature call for big three-pointers: a sharp, emphatic “Bang!” that has become one of the most recognizable sounds in NBA basketball. For Knicks fans, it is more than just a catchphrase. Breen has been calling New York’s games since 1992, so that call, in those big moments, carries decades of history behind it.
This announcement carries a big impact, especially since Breen was, in fact, one of the loudest voices against the NBA playoff broadcasting format not too long ago. When the league made the entire postseason available exclusively through national TV under its new media deal with ESPN, NBC, and Amazon, the local broadcasters were completely left out for the first time ever. Breen definitely did not keep quiet.
During the Knicks’ regular season finale on MSG, he called it a “poor decision,” saying fans want to hear their home broadcasters, especially in the first round. “For so many of us, they become part of the family,” he said.
