On Thursday, the New York Yankees will get the day off.

They are coming off a strong road trip where they went 7-2 in nine games.

The Yankees will open up a new series with the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night in the Bronx.

Future Hall Of Famer Yankees Must Consider Adding

Despite the Yankees being one of the elite teams in the MLB, they have had trouble at third base.

Ryan McMahon is batting .174 with two home runs, seven RBI’s and six runs in 28 games this season.

Ryan McMahon has a 52 wRC+ on the year and an OPS that’s about to dip below .500.

He also has -3 defensive runs saved and a 0 OAA at third.

They didn’t lose today solely because of McMahon; it was mostly because Nathan Eovaldi did Nathan Eovaldi things against the Yankees.

One player who could be a huge addition to the team is Nolan Arenado.

The future Hall of Famer is one of the best to ever play third base.

Right now, he is in his first season with the Arizona Diamondbacks, batting .283 with four home runs, 14 RBI’s and 14 runs in 26 games.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan wrote (on January 13): “The Arizona Diamondbacks are acquiring eight-time All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals, sources tell ESPN. Arenado has agreed to waive his no-trade clause and the deal is done.”

If the Diamondbacks become a seller at the trade deadline, Arenado could be the perfect player for the Yankees to acquire to chase their first World Series since 2009.

He would also probably welcome the trade, as the 35-year-old has appeared in just eight MLB playoff games.

The only thing missing in his legendary career is a deep postseason run.

Arenado’s Background

Arenado was picked in the second round of the 2009 MLB Draft.

He is most known for his eight-year run with the Colorado Rockies.

In that span, Arenado made five straight All-Star Games (2015-19).

Over 1,079 games in Colorado, he batted .293 with 1,206 hits (and won eight Gold Gloves).

Arenado had spent the last five years with the St. Louis Cardinals before landing in Arizona.

With the Cardinals, he won two more Gold Gloves (and made three All-Star Games).

His career batting average is .282 with 1,947 hits, 357 home runs, 1,198 RBI’s and 1,006 runs in 1,813 games.

Yankees And Diamondbacks

The Yankees are at the top of the American League East with a 20-11 record in 31 games.

They lost in the ALDS last season.

Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are the third-place team in the National League West with a 16-13 record in 29 games.

They missed the 2025 MLB playoffs.
