After the loss, manager Dave Roberts announced an update on Ohtani.
Sonja Chen of MLB.com wrote: “Shohei Ohtani continued to scuffle by going 0-for-5 tonight. Dave Roberts said he’s looking to give Ohtani a bit of a mental break in the next couple days, and he won’t hit either Wednesday (his next pitching start) or Thursday.”

This is the most out of sync Roberts has seen Ohtani, and he believes Ohtani is “trying to swing out of it,” but it’s “not a good mindset.”
