On Friday night, the Los Angeles Lakers will be in Houston to play the Rockets for Game 6 of their first-round playoff series.

The Lakers had won the first three games in the series (before losing each of the last two).

Bronny James had played in each of the first four games in the series, but he was not given any time during Game 5.

Bronny has been one of the most polarizing players in recent NBA history.

That said, he’s proven to be a solid role player at different points during the season (and has been an elite G League guard).

With Bronny nearing the end of his second season, it’s worth looking at how much he is being paid.

This season, the 21-year-old made $1.955 million (via Spotrac).

He will then make $2.3 million for the 2026-27 season (before a team option in 2027-28 for $2.5 million).

ESPN’s Shams Charania wrote (on July 3, 2024): “Bronny James has signed his rookie contract with the Lakers, per sources: Four years and $7.9 million. Team option in fourth season.”

Bronny’s Pro Career

Bronny finished his second NBA regular season with averages of 2.9 points and 1.2 assists per contest while shooting 40.9% from the field and 38.6% from three-point range in 42 games.

His best game of the 2025-26 season came when he put up 12 points while shooting 5/10 from the field against the San Antonio Spurs (on February 10).

Real App wrote (on April 25): “Bronny James outscored the entire Rockets bench in a playoff game 🤯”

Bronny has been one of the top guards in the G League.

His career averages are 18.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.5 steals per contest while shooting 49.6% from the field and 41.3% from three-point range in 24 regular season games.

Lakers Right Now

The Lakers will look to avoid having to go back to Los Angeles (on Sunday) for a Game 7.

Whoever wins the series will face off against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round.
