After an impressive T9 finish at the 2026 Masters Tournament, Max Homa is shifting his focus to his next challenge at the RBC Heritage. It will mark the California-native’s third appearance at Harbour Town Golf Links.

Initially, Homa was set to compete via a sponsor exemption. However, his solid finish at August National moved him into the top 50 of the FedExCup Standings. The ranking secured his place in the PGA Tour’s Signature Event field.

Ahead of the RBC Heritage tournament, the 35-year-old shared how difficult it is to compete in a Major, and his thoughts on quitting when things get hard.

Homa Shares Thoughts on Quitting Ahead of RBC Heritage

Ahead of the RBC Heritage, Homa sat down for a PGA Tour interview. During which, he opened up about his current form and where he’s headed.

“I’ve been playing really well and I really loved how I played last week,” he said referring to his game at Augusta. Ahead of the Masters, Homa recorded his best rounds of the year with a T32 at The Players Championship and before that a T13 at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches. He has missed just three cuts out of nine starts for the season and started the year off with a T27 at The American Express.

Looking ahead to the RBC Heritage, Homa expressed confidence without overthinking adjustments.

“I won’t make an adjustment. I just plan to hit it a little straighter than I did last couple of tries here,” he said.

Homa also reflected on challenges he has faced recently, while remaining optimistic about the future.

“I think in pretty much anything it’s just easy to quit when it gets hard,” Homa said. “So last year and kind of a lot of the year prior where it was very hard.”

“I always promised myself I’ll quit this game at some point, but I’m not going to quit when it’s too hard for me to deal with.”

Max Homa Opens Up on Mental Toll

Over the last two years, Homa has recorded a T3 and T9 finish at the Masters. An impressive repeat performance from a player currently ranked outside the top 100 in the world. Of the accomplishment, Homa opened up on how difficult it is to come back from. He shared that the Majors sometimes feel like two weeks worth of work, followed by a Signature Event weekend at RBC Heritage.

“Augusta is one of the few physical tests we have in golf,” Homa said. “It’s quite a bear to walk and prep for, but that mental toll it takes on you is pretty draining.”

He went on to praise competitor and World No. 1, Scottie Scheffler for his consistency, “It just goes to show how incredible someone like Scottie is,” Homa said. “He wins so often and he’s in contention so often, yet he does it again the next week. It is something to truly look up to.”

Homa is set to tee off at RBC Heritage this week in Hilton Head at Harbour Town Golf Links. He will begin at 2:10 p.m. alongside Sudarshan Yellamaraju as the final pairing of the first round.
