Red Sox Trade With Brewers Looks Like A Mistake

Durbin is in his first season with the Red Sox after getting acquired (via the Milwaukee Brewers) over the offseason.

He has struggled so far this year, batting .156 with 22 hits, one home run, 14 RBI’s, 14 runs and four stolen bases in 40 games.

The Red Sox wrote (via X) on February 9: “The #RedSox today acquired INFs Caleb Durbin and Andruw Monasterio, INF/C Anthony Seigler, and a selection in Competitive Balance Round B of the 2026 First-Year Player Draft from the Milwaukee Brewers, in exchange for LHPs Kyle Harrison and Shane Drohan and INF David Hamilton.”

Durbin (who is 26) had been coming off a strong rookie season for Milwaukee.

Looking At Kyle Harrison

On the other side of the trade, Kyle Harrison has been a huge addition to the Brewers.

He is 3-1 with a 2.41 ERA in his first seven starts of the 2026 MLB season.

Harrison could be a long-term pitcher for the Brewers.

The 24-year-old is among the recent pitchers the Red Sox have let go of.

Jared Carrabis of Section 10 Podcast wrote (on May 12): “I’m looking at a random grouping of starting pitchers. Chris Sale, Eduardo Rodriguez, Kyle Harrison, Michael Wacha, and Nathan Eovaldi have combined for a 2.74 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP in 39 starts this year, averaging six innings per start.”
