The 2026 NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race heads to Dover Motor Speedway for the first time on May 17, and the event’s prize money is already getting attention. The total NASCAR Cup Series purse for the exhibition race stands at $3.093 million, according to FOX Sports reporter Bob Pockrass.

The race winner will again receive the famous $1 million bonus, a figure that has remained unchanged since 2003. While the NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race remains one of the sport’s biggest events, the purse still falls far behind major races like the Daytona 500.

NASCAR officials increased the overall payout from last season, but the winner’s share remains unchanged despite inflation and rising team costs across the NASCAR Cup Series garage.

NASCAR Dover Prize Money Rises From Last Season

The NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race purse increased significantly compared to 2025. Last year’s race at North Wilkesboro Speedway featured a total purse of $2.421 million. In 2024, the event paid out around $3.785 million, but the amount dropped the following season.

Now, NASCAR has raised the total purse to $3.093 million as the event moves to Dover Motor Speedway. The increase gives stronger payouts throughout the field, not just to the race winner.

The NASCAR Cup Series weekend at Dover also includes major payouts for the support series. The Xfinity Series O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 will feature a $1.654 million purse, while the Truck Series race offers $790,000.

Even with the increase, much of the attention remains on the $1 million winner’s prize. Drivers have previously pointed out that inflation has eroded the real-world value of their pay over time. Adjusted for inflation, the same bonus from 2003 would equal roughly $1.75 million today.

Still, the million-dollar reward continues to add pressure and excitement to the NASCAR Cup Series exhibition race.

NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race Still Trails Daytona 500

Despite its history and large winner’s check, the NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race remains far behind the Daytona 500 in total payout.

The 2026 Daytona 500 purse reached nearly $31 million, making it the richest race in motorsports. Standard NASCAR Cup Series races at tracks like Texas and Phoenix also often feature purses between $10 million and $12 million.

The difference comes from the role each event plays in the NASCAR Cup Series season. Daytona opens the season and brings major television audiences, sponsorship deals, and historic importance. The All-Star Race does not award championship points and focuses more on entertainment.

This year’s NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race will feature a new 350-lap segmented format at Dover Motor Speedway. NASCAR also introduced new eligibility rules as part of the move away from Charlotte and North Wilkesboro.

Teams still value the race because of the exposure, prestige, and bonus money attached to the event. The winner also receives the traditional moonshine-still trophy.

Dover’s concrete surface and high banking could create the aggressive racing that fans expect from the NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race. While the purse does not match Daytona’s massive payout, NASCAR continues to treat the event as one of the sport’s biggest showcases.
