Josh Allen will play a key role in picking a new Bills coach.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is busy spending his offseason rehabbing a broken foot and working with his new teammates, but the former league MVP still has time to support a good cause.

Allen took to social media to announce an event that supports a charity he holds dear, a donation fund named after his late grandmother that supports mothers and children around Buffalo. The Bills quarterback has been a frequent supporter, raising money himself and supporting causes that add to the fund.

Josh Allen Announces Golf Marathon to Support a Good Cause

Allen share details about a marathon golf fundraiser this week to support the Patricia Allen Fund. The Golisano Children’s Hospital of Buffalo shared details about the annual fundraiser.

“On Tuesday, May 26, members from The Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Foundation Board of Directors and hospital supporters are participating in this year’s 117 Holes FOR Children’s event!” the hospital noted in an announcement. “Playing from dawn to dusk, this group of individuals and relay teams will compete—not only for the most steps—but to raise the most money to support Golisano Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. Once again, funds raised will go to the Patricia Allen Fund which supports the Critical Care teams who serve the moms, kids and babies in our community when they need it most.”

Allen was able to spend time with the golfer and get in a few rounds, but had to leave to attend the team’s first day of OTAs, their second round of voluntary practices this spring. Former Bills center Eric Wood was one of the 17 golfers who completed all 117 rounds and said it was a grueling day.

“It’s a grind, it’s pretty tough, different than playing a football game, a different sore in different ways, but you feel it afterwards,” Wood said, via WIVB in Buffalo.

Hospital officials shared praise for the golfers who took part in the marathon day.

“It’s really inspiring to see what these players put their bodies through,” Andy Lashua, chief development officer for Foundations of Kaleida Health, told WIVB. “What they usually say is that it’s nothing when they think about what so many kids and families in our community go through every day at Children’s Hospital.”

Bills Fans Joined Josh Allen in Supporting Hospital

Bills fans rallied around Allen when he lost his grandmother in 2020, raising $1.4 million in total — mostly from individual donations of $17 to honor Allen’s jersey number — for the children’s hospital the quarterback regularly supported.

As WIVB in Buffalo reported, the hospital unveiled the Patricia Allen Pediatric Recovery Wing the following year, an expansion that was funded in part through the donations.

Allen met with hospital staff at the time, sharing gratitude for their work.

“It’s such a surreal moment,” Allen said, via WIVB. “I just want to give a round of applause to each and every single one of you that works here. I’m so grateful to have this honor and have my grandmother memorialized like this. I’m so indebted to this great community and this City of Buffalo.”
