The New York Yankees have a decision to make on infielder Anthony Volpe. As he continues to stay in the minor leagues, it’s become clear that the Yankees, who are 26-14 this season, are content with not having him as an everyday player.

So, this could lead to New York deciding to trade Anthony Volpe in the near future, especially if they don’t have plans to bring him up to the big league club. The Volpe-Yankees injury/rehab saga was well documented, but basically, New York decided to keep Volpe in the minors in favor of Jose Caballero, and then, when Jasson Dominguez went down with an injury, New York called up Spencer Jones instead of Anthony Volpe. Volpe has been a full-time starter for the Yankees in each of the past three seasons.

Volpe hit .212 last season with 19 home runs, 72 RBI, and 150 strikeouts. As rumors continue to persist and swirl around, here are four potential trade destinations for Anthony Volpe if the Yankees choose to deal him.

Cleveland Guardians

Kicking things off for the potential Anthony Volpe trade landing spots is the Cleveland Guardians. Their starting shortstop is Brayan Rocchio. Rocchio has been a solid offensive player for Cleveland, but Volpe could provide a lot more power upside, although it will come with more strikeouts. Rocchio is also probably a better defender than Volpe, but the Guardians’ biggest issue regarding its infield corps (aside from Jose Ramirez) has been receiving home runs.

Minnesota Twins

The Minnesota Twins need a lot of help in a lot of areas, but trading for Anthony Volpe would be a good kickstart to giving their infield some more pop.

The Twins’ current starter at shortstop is Brooks Lee, who is a top prospect, but Minnesota could experiment with shuffling guys around the infield to make room for Volpe.

Colorado Rockies

The Rockies’ starting shortstop is Ezequiel Tovar. He features a strong glove and plenty of extra-base ability, but Tovar remains hindered by his glaring lack of on-base ability and high strikeout rate. Tovar also dealt with injuries in 2025, which limited him to 95 games.

Anthony Volpe would certainly benefit from hitting in Coors Field every day, and this is a trade spot where Volpe might actually excel in a new scenery.

Toronto Blue Jays

Last on the list of potential trade destinations is the Toronto Blue Jays. Now, the Blue Jays might be the least likely landing spot due to them being division rivals with the Yankees, but Toronto is still feeling the effect of losing Bo Bichette up the middle, and Andres Gimenez… like the Guardians’ Rocchio, doesn’t feature much power in his bat.

As much as Anthony Volpe strikes out, the one thing he has going for him is his home run ability, which makes him a semi-attractive trade candidate. Volpe has 52 home runs in 472 career games.

While there haven’t been any official reports of what the Yankees want to do with Volpe, many fans and analysts believe a trade might be the best-case scenario for both parties.
