WWE Legend Trashes WrestleMania 42 For Feeling “Soulless”...

WWE legend Kevin Nash called out TKO for negatively impacting the usually beloved WrestleMania event this year. Wrestling fans were notably less excited for the two-night card for WrestleMania 42 having a weak build and lackluster results when it finally happened. Nash attended the events since many of WWE’s legends are invited to be at the Hall of Fame and watch the WrestleMania shows backstage.

The latest episode of Nash’s Kliq This podcast saw him calling the shows soulless:

“I’m so detached from the product and everything else that to me, the whole weekend — and maybe because I was running on fumes — but it felt kind of soulless. I’m not stupid and I’m not naive, and I understand that the bottom line is, ‘Man, that is a business.’ And once it left Vince’s hands, like no matter if you love Vince or don’t love Vince.”

Nash both criticized the WrestleMania events holding little excitement and mentioned that Vince McMahon no longer owning the company drastically changed the dynamic. TKO only cares about the profits and making as much money as possible. WWE willingly had fewer fans attend this year’s events due to the expensive tickets pricing out many fans that used to travel to WrestleMania every year.

Why WrestleMania 42 Felt So Soulless

Nash used a different term than most fans did, but it sums up the same issue that most have with WWE’s product right now. Everything feels hollow and done from the perspective of getting attention on social media rather than putting together a great show for the customers.

Celebrities Pat McAfee and Jelly Roll dominated the storyline of night one’s main event between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes. WWE fans wanted that dream feud for years, and it was ruined in the biggest spot by forcing celebrities to feud while aligned with each name.

Even the good things like Roman Reigns vs CM Punk felt overly produced and lacked that “anything can happen” feeling. McMahon used to use that catch phrase that “anything could happen in the WWE” to sell the appeal of live shows. TKO era WWE shows don’t have that vibe, especially since the most shocking thing at WrestleMania was the number of ads.

Kevin Nash Is One Of Triple H’s Best Friends

Another interesting element of this story is that Nash is one of Triple H’s best friends in real life. The two grew close as part of Shawn Michaels’ infamous “Kliq” of friends who traveled together in the 1990s and never lost touch.

Nash praises Triple H constantly for doing a good job in arguably the most stressful job in all of wrestling. However, even someone loyal to WWE and the creative boss felt the shows lacked that special feeling that wrestlers and fans get from WrestleMania.

TKO is under fire by fans and talent for some of their decisions making WWE feel less customer friendly. Nash’s comment proves that even the legends who love WWE feel disappointed in the current product. Changes must be made or WWE will risk losing the popularity they’ve gained in recent years.
