Incredibolt is one of the top contenders at the Preakness.

Incredibolt is one of the top horses in the Preakness Stakes and is led by jockey, Jaime Torres, as well as trainer, Riley Mott. The horse is owned by the Pin Oak Stud ownership group.

Incredibolt’s purchase price was $75,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale in 2024, per the Kentucky Derby. The horse is coming off a sixth-place finish at the Kentucky Derby.

“The winning horse was bred in Kentucky and purchased for $75,000 at the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale,” Twin Spires’ John Mucciolo wrote for KentuckyDerby.com in a March 17, 2026, story titled, “Kentucky Derby Horse Profile: Incredibolt.”

“He was produced from the winning Awesome Again mare Sapphire Spitfire and is a half-brother to the dual graded stakes-placed Fire on Time.”

Incredibolt’s Jockey, Jaime Torres, Has Earned $23.8 Million During His Career

Torres has made more than 2,800 starts over his jockey career earning $23.8 million, per Equibase. The jockey has already earned $2.4 million in 2026.

Incredibolt is in good hands heading into the Preakness as Torres has notched 323 wins during his career. Torres won the Preakness on Seize the Grey in 2024.

The horse’s trainer is bullish on Incredibolt’s form heading into the Preakness.

“The horse is doing extremely well,” Mott explained, per Paulick Report. “He came out of the Derby in good shape, and we have been clocking the field of (Preakness) horses and we thought it would be the right opportunity to try the horse back.”

Trainer Riley Mott Initially Was Not Going to Enter Incredibolt in the Preakness

Mott had a change of heart on Incredibolt’s status for the Preakness. Initially, the team did not plan to enter Incredibolt in the Preakness, but Mott became bullish on the horse’s chances given the field.

“We were not going to go to the Preakness,” Mott noted, per BloodHorse.com.23 “The plan was to point to another race. In this game, you need to give yourself the mobility to be flexible and kind of change things on the fly.

“We looked at the potential field for the Preakness and, as long as our horse was doing well, why not strike?”

Incredibolt’s Owner, Dana Bernhard’s Husband, Jim Bernhard, Died in November 2025

According to Thoroughbred Daily News, Pin Oak was purchased by Dana Bernhard and her late husband Jim Bernhard from founder Josephine Abercrombie in 2022. Now, horses like Incredibolt are keeping the memory of Bernhard’s husband alive following his death in November 2025.

“I have had a lot of comfort from the horses and from all our great team at Pin Oak,” Bernhard remarked, per Thoroughbred Daily News. “Losing Jim so suddenly to that extremely rare and untreatable disease five months ago was a profound, horrible experience. I still have extreme waves of grief.

“… Having one horse, Incredibolt, qualify for the Derby after he won the Virginia Derby was, of course, just a fabulous experience. All of us at Pin Oak were thrilled beyond measure. At the same time, it was extremely sad for me because I know how incredibly excited Jim would have been.”

Incredibolt’s Father Is Bolt d’Oro

As for the horse, Incredibolt comes from an impressive family. The Kentucky Derby’s profile described Incredibolt’s lineage as a family of “tough, durable racehorses.”
