Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff drew a crowd of hundreds at an appearance ahead of the 2026 NFL draft.

The NFL is about winning games and making it to the playoffs, but it’s also about learning life lessons about fighting through adversity and winning the right way. In that spirit, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff made an appearance over the weekend and shared his love for the sport with roughly 600 Lions enthusiasts.

Goff was traded to the Detroit Lions back in January 2021 through a large trade deal with the Los Angeles Rams. He wasn’t well known in Michigan at the time, but since then, Goff has earned the respect of Detroit after leading the team through some of its most successful seasons as a franchise, including making it to the NFC championship game in January of 2024.

The Lions cooled off during the 2025-26 season with a 9-8 record, but Goff is still beloved in Michigan. Over the weekend, he spent time with budding football players at his FlexWork camps.

Detroit Lions Quarterback Jared Goff Hosts Youth Camps With Hundreds of Attendees

Goff teamed up with FlexWork Sports Management this year to host youth football camps across Michigan. On Saturday, April 18, Goff was at Heritage High School in Saginaw, Michigan, to teach football basics to the youth. He was also in Grand Rapids.

FlexWork Sports head of marketing Adam Skollar told MLive that FlexWork Sports is a youth sports experience company offering roughly 385 events with athletes across the country.

“Obviously there are very energetic families here, very passionate families here and working with Jared I think brings that out,” Skollar told the outlet. ‘I think he exemplifies so much of what Detroit football is and I think Saginaw really embraces that.”

Children ages 6 to 16 were able to play football with Goff and run drills with FlexWork Sports coaches.

“It’s not just about the skills and drills and everything that gets learned,” Skollar told the outlet. “It’s really about creating an experience and creating those once in a lifetime moments and once in a lifetime memories.”

So, Goff got to share his love for the sport with hundreds of up-and-coming football players. They even did the “Jared Goff” chant at the camp. Because why wouldn’t they?

Taking Care of Detroit Lions’ Biggest Needs in the 2026 NFL Draft

The 2026 NFL draft is just days away and kicks off April 23 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. So, what’s the team’s No. 1 position of need in the draft? NFL analysts and experts usually say that tackle or edge are the team’s most important holes to fill.

The Detroit Lions have flexibility with the tackle position, in particular. As Tim Twentyman of the Detroit Lions’ official website points out in a Sunday, April 19 feature, “Detroit has the luxury of employing All-Pro tackle Penei Sewell, who’s not only one of the best tackles in the game, but also has the versatility to play either right or left tackle.”

Twentyman adds, “That flexibility gives the Lions a unique advantage when potentially looking to add a tackle in this year’s draft. They can evaluate the player and not worry if he plays left or right tackle.”

Personally, this reporter believes it would be better to see the Lions put to rest their longstanding edge problem and draft an elite edge in the draft. But, if they settle on a tackle, it’ll be understandable.
