NEW YORK, NEW YORK - NOVEMBER 05: Anthony Edwards #5 of the Minnesota Timberwolves warms up before the game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on November 05, 2025 in New York City.

All-Star guard Anthony Edwards will miss at least the first few games of the Minnesota Timberwolves vs. San Antonio Spurs Western Conference semifinals series, as he continues to rehab from a bone bruise in his left knee.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Edwards could potentially return for Game 3 or Game 4 back in Minnesota — unless he suffers any setbacks in his recovery process.

“Certainly [there] is hope that he could return as the series goes on,” Charania reported on ESPN’s “Get Up” when asked about Edwards’ potential return date.

“I’m told he’ll be out to start the second round series. It starts early next week [on Monday], and that’s just over one week since he sustained the injury.

“This is a multi-week, minimum two-week injury, so you’re looking at least a few games before you hope he can return.”

Anthony Edwards Injury Update

As Charania highlighted, Edwards sustained a hyperextension in his knee during Game 4 of the Timberwolves vs. Denver Nuggets series last Sunday. As such, he’ll be eight days removed from the injury during Game 1 of the Spurs vs. Timberwolves series.

Edwards would be exactly two weeks removed from his injury when the Timberwolves host the Spurs in Game 4. Could he potentially return by then?

“He’s a very quick healer,” Charania said of Edwards.

“They nicknamed him The Wolverine out there in Minnesota just because of his pain threshold. But he will be out to start the series.”

Timberwolves vs Spurs Schedule

The second-seeded Spurs enter the series as massive -1400 favorites to beat the Timberwolves and advance to the Western Conference Finals.

The full schedule can be seen below:

  • Game 1: May 4 at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio
  • Game 2: May 6 at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio
  • Game 3: May 8 at Target Center in Minneapolis
  • Game 4: May 10 at Target Center in Minneapolis
  • Game 5: May 12 at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio
  • Game 6: May 15 at Target Center in Minneapolis
  • Game 7: May 17 at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio

The Athletic’s Jared Weiss, who covers the Spurs, expects Victor Wembanyama and Co. to make quick work of Minnesota due to the Anthony Edwards injury.

Spurs in 5,” Weiss predicted after Minnesota won its first-round series.

“If Edwards was healthy, I would pick Spurs in 7. But the Wolves are just decimated by injuries now and the Spurs are too good and too locked in to mess around.”

The winners of the Timberwolves-Spurs series will face either the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Los Angeles Lakers or the Houston Rockets in the West Finals.
