Belgium has announced its full 26-player squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It’s the fifteenth time the country has qualified for the FIFA World Cup. After achieving a historic third-place finish in 2018, Belgium’s form dipped significantly in 2022, resulting in a premature and surprising group-stage exit.
Head coach Rudi Garcia announced the full squad earlier today. The Belgian squad has many well-known players. Top scorer Romelu Lukaku (89 goals) will play his fourth World Cup with the team. Also, other established names like Kevin De Bruyne, Axel Witsel, and Thibaut Courtois are still part of the squad. But also big names like Jérémy Doku, Leandro Trossard, and Mike Charles De Ketelaere made the final cut.
Goalkeepers: Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid), Senne Lammens (Manchester United), Mike Penders (Racing Strasbourg)
Defenders: Timothy Castagne (Fulham), Zeno Debast (Sporting CP), Maxim De Cuyper (Brighton & Hove Albion), Koni De Winter (AC Milan), Brandon Mechele (Club Brugge), Thomas Meunier (Lille OSC), Nathan Ngoy (Lille OSC), Joaquin Seys (Club Brugge), Arthur Theate (Eintracht Frankfurt)
Midfielders: Kevin De Bruyne (SSC Napoli), Amadou Onana (Aston Villa), Nicolas Raskin (Rangers FC), Youri Tielemans (Aston Villa), Hans Vanaken (Club Brugge), Axel Witsel (Girona FC)
Forwards: Charles De Ketelaere (Atalanta BC), Jérémy Doku (Manchester City), Matias Fernandez-Pardo (KAA Gent), Romelu Lukaku (SSC Napoli), Dodi Lukébakio (Benfica), Diego Moreira (Racing Strasbourg), Alexis Saelemaekers (AC Milan), Leandro Trossard (Arsenal)
To qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Belgium had to take on Wales, North Macedonia, Kazakhstan, and Liechtenstein. Belgium topped their group with five wins and three draws, securing their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With six of the twenty-nine goals Belgium scored during the group stage, Kevin De Bruyne was the top scorer.
Because Wales was only two points behind the Red Devils, it took until the last group match before the Belgians were sure about their 2026 World Cup participation. Belgium beat Liechtenstein 7-0 in front of their fans in Liège on November 18, 2025, to directly qualify for the tournament.
Belgium is one of the teams in Group G. The Red Devils open their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign on June 15 in Seattle, Washington, against Egypt. Six days later, they will travel to Inglewood, California, where Iran will be the opponent. Belgium’s final group stage match will be on June 26. In Vancouver, BC, Canada, they will face New Zealand. The two group winners and the eight best third-placed teams from each group will advance to the next stage.
