The Premier League standings are intense at both the top and bottom of the table.

The Premier League standings are heating up, both at the top of the table in the battle for Champions League qualification, as well as the bottom where teams are attempting to avoid relegation. Arsenal and Manchester City continue to battle for the EPL title, with the Gunners finding their footing in recent weeks.

A trip to the Champions League final should boost the club’s confidence, but it is a delicate balance for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta in attempting to balance the battle for Europe as well as the quest for the Premier League trophy.

Man City’s run during the second half of the season has only intensified the pressure on Arsenal with three matches remaining.

The bad news for Manchester City is that Arsenal is expected to be heavy favorites in all three remaining games. Given the club’s history, this has not seemed to ease Arsenal fans’ fears with Manchester City looming in second place.

Here’s a look at the Premier League standings heading into the Saturday, May 9, EPL schedule. The table will updated after Saturday’s matches have been completed.

Premier League Relegation Standings: Can Tottenham Avoid Being Sent Down?

This season’s relegation battle has more excitement than normal as one of the most storied Premier League clubs is stunningly in danger of being relegated. All eyes are on Tottenham, perhaps even more than the battle for the title between Arsenal and Manchester City.

As things stand now, Tottenham would be the last team to avoid relegation. With three matches remaining, Tottenham has just a one point lead on West Ham in the relegation battle.

J.J. Watt’s Burnley as well as the Wolves have unfortunately already cemented their status as two of the three clubs who will be relegated. Tottenham and West Ham are battling to avoid the final relegation spot.

“The most important challenge now is to silence the voice inside of us, inside of the players, inside the staff and the fans,” Tottenham manager Roberto de Zerbi explained, per BBC.

“This voice produces negative thoughts and the voice says we are unlucky, we have too many injuries. … It’s like we’re all crying and relegated. No, not yet. We have to die on the pitch,” De Zerbi added.

“We have to play, we have to fight, we have two points less than West Ham (Tottenham now has a one point advantage). They have to play a difficult game like us. It’s not the best moment for us, a tough moment, but the losers cry, they think negative and I don’t want people close to me crying or to think a different way than me.”
