Roman Reigns is the World Heavyweight Champion.

This year’s WWE Backlash is set to be held at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida.

It will be WWE’s first Premium Live Event after WrestleMania 42, which received mixed reviews from fans and critics. Night 1 received plenty of backlash, especially the main event match between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.

However, WWE was able to recover on Night 2 after some pretty good matches, including Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar, the Six-Pack Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship and the main event of Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk.

Updated WWE Backlash 2026 Match Card

On Friday’s episode of SmackDown in Tulsa, Oklahoma, two more matches were added to the WWE Backlash card.

Trick Williams will defend his United States Championship against Sami Zayn. Williams has vowed revenge on Zayn, who attacked him and Lil Yachty last week and laid the gingerbread man to rest on Friday.

Meanwhile, Danhausen was attacked by The Miz and Kit Wilson inside the ring. SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis has granted Danhausen a tag team match at WWE Backlash as long as he finds a suitable tag team partner.

Here’s the updated WWE Backlash 2026 Match Card:

• Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jacob Fatu for the World Heavyweight Championship
• Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker
• IYO SKY vs. Asuka
• Trick Williams (c) vs. Sami Zayn for the United States Championship
• Danhausen and TBD vs. The Miz and Kit Wilson in a Tag Team Match

Reigns finally accepted Fatu’s challenge last Monday on Raw after The Tribal Chief was attacked using the Tongan Death Grip. The Samoan Werewolf was unhinged on Friday, taking out Solo Sikoa and Talla Tonga of the MFTs. He also got into a verbal confrontation with The Usos at the end of SmackDown.

Meanwhile, The Miz tricked Danhausen during an in-ring segment. The two-time WWE Champion acknowledged that he needs to be the mentor of Danhausen to lift the curse put on him.

Wilson came out and tried his best to convince The Miz that Danhausen was toxic. The Miz shook Danhausen’s hands, but it was also just a ruse. He hit the Skull Crashing Finale on the Very Nice, Very Evil WWE Superstar before Wilson finished him off with a twisting diving elbow drop.

More Matches To Be Added?

Last year’s WWE Backlash was held in St. Louis, Missouri and only had a total of five matches. This year’s card already has that number with only a week left before the event. But will WWE add more matches to the card?

Gunther attacked Cody Rhodes on SmackDown, announcing his intent to become the Undisputed WWE Champion.

Maybe a women’s championship match could also be added, though the IYO SKY-Asuka rivalry is months in the making. One problem for the match is that some fans could hijack it with “We Want Kairi” chants.
