On Wednesday evening, the Boston Red Sox played the second game of their series with the New York Yankees at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox lost by a score of 4-1.
They will look to avoid getting swept on Thursday.

After Wednesday’s loss, Alex Cora made an honest statement when he met with the media.
Cora (h/t NESN): “We still have to be better… It’s been tough, the whole homestand… We’ve gotta be better. Everybody here believes that we have a good team. Good teams have to find a way to score runs against good pitching.”

The Red Sox were shut down by Max Fried.
They scored their only run of the game (after he was taken out).
@pitchprofiler wrote: “Max Fried FRIED the Red Sox this evening! He struck out nine over eight scoreless innings against Boston. He’s got some of the nastiest breaking balls in baseball and a knack for mixing in a wide variety of pitches!”

With their latest loss, the Red Sox dropped to 9-15 in 24 games, which has them at the bottom of the American League East.
They are just 5-7 in the 12 games they have played at Fenway Park.
Following one more game against the Yankees, the Red Sox will head to Baltimore for a series with the Orioles on Friday night.
Tyler Milliken of Section 10 Podcast wrote: “The Red Sox have played 24 games this season. In 11 of those games, they’ve scored 2 or less runs. It’s happened in 6 of the last 8 games. 5 of 6. 28th in OPS. 26th in Runs. 30th in HR. I got nothing at this point.”

Cora is in his eighth year at the helm for the Red Sox.
In 2018, he helped lead them to the World Series Championship in his first season as manager.
