The PGA Championship odds are set, with Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler topping the betting board.

It’s the usual suspects atop the 2026 PGA Championship odds betting board, but there’s no shortage of intrigue for the year’s second major at Aronimink Golf Club just outside of Philadelphia.

Rory McIlroy is looking to build on his momentum in major season after capturing his second straight green jacket at the Masters in April. Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler hopes to hoist the Wanamaker Trophy for a second straight year after holding off the field a year ago at Quail Hollow.

The 2026 version of the PGA Championship is significant, too, as it’s the first major tournament that will bring PGA Tour and LIV players together since the significant news that LIV’s funding is up in the air beyond 2026. Whether that affects top-end talent like Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm will be one of the week’s biggest storylines.

Rory, Scottie Set for Another Duel at PGA Championship?

That McIlroy and Scheffler are so far ahead of the field entering the week is no surprise. There’s no debating they are the two best golfers in the world right now (although Cameron Young is making a charge for the top), and they have the championship pedigree. On top of that, the two finished 1-2 at the Masters, where Scheffler made a weekend charge to salvage a seemingly lost week. Scheffler came agonizingly close to forcing a playoff, and if the tournament extended another handful of holes, he might have been the one celebrating in Butler Cabin.

The pair have yet to really go toe-to-toe on a major Sunday, but it feels like a matter of time. Scheffler comes in a silly run, having finished in the top five in six of his nine starts this season, although he “only” has one win. The world No. 1 has three consecutive second-place finishes. McIlroy, meanwhile, finished a non-competitive T-19 at the Truist Championship, but he has earned the benefit of the doubt that he’ll be ready when it’s time to tee it up for a major championship.

PGA Championship Contenders: Don’t Sleep on Young, Fitzpatrick

While it might be a two-horse race at the very top, the mid-level contenders are filled with players who would surprise no one by winning. The aforementioned DeChambeau and Rahm have arguably the highest ceiling outside of McIlroy and Scheffler, but the limited sample size on LIV paired with questionable Masters performances, makes it hard to bank on either.

On the Tour side, though, Young and Matt Fitzpatrick have earned their way into the conversation.

Young has a pair of high-profile wins this season, both signature events, winning The Players and the Cadillac Championship. He also had himself in contention on Sunday at the Masters before finishing in a tie for third place. A major championship sure feels inevitable at some point in his career.

Fitzpatrick, on the other hand, already has his major title. The 2022 U.S. Open winner has battled inconsistency since his conquest at The Country Club, but he has found something this season. The Englishman has five top-10 finishes this season with three wins: Valspar, RBC Heritage and Zurich. The win at the RBC, a signature event, was especially impressive where he edged Scheffler in a playoff.
