An anonymous NFL executive had a hot take regarding the Bills' Super Bowl chances.

The Buffalo Bills had one of the most active offseasons in the NFL, but not everyone is convinced Josh Allen and company are Super Bowl contenders — though the betting markets tell a different story.

Are Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen Super Bowl Contenders?

An anonymous NFL executive told The Athletic’s Mike Sando that he believes the Bills’ championship window may already be closed. The comment came as part of a broader AFC outlook piece published May 1.

“Denver barely beat Buffalo; I think Buffalo’s window has closed. New England will regress. I’d never bet against (Patrick) Mahomes and Andy Reid playing their best when it matters,” the exec told Sando.

Of course, anonymous executive opinions are just that — opinions. And now that the draft is in the books, more dominoes have fallen, and these rosters are starting to take real shape. The Bills have had an extremely active offseason that looks pretty darn good on paper compared to where this team stood a year ago.

Buffalo pulled off a blockbuster trade for D.J. Moore, brought back top-tier center Connor McGovern, extended tight end Dawson Knox, and added several key defensive pieces to bolster a unit that was underwhelming last season. The additions of C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Bradley Chubb, among others, give this defense a different look entirely.

Buffalo Bills Super Bowl Odds

The oddsmakers are firmly siding against the anonymous executive’s assessment. According to FanDuel’s Super Bowl odds as of Tuesday, May 5, the Bills are tied for second-best odds to win Super Bowl LXI at +1000 — tied with the Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks — trailing only the Los Angeles Rams, who sit at +700.

It’s hard to count out Josh Allen and the Bills. Yes, there’s a new head coaching regime with Joe Brady taking over, but that was an internal promotion rather than an outside hire — continuity remains largely intact.

Opinions are split on the Bills’ 2026 draft class, but the Bills added some intriguing prospects. EDGE T.J. Parker certainly helps fill a position of need after a nice career at Clemson. Skyler Bell was widely viewed as a value pick after a breakout season at UConn.

Whether this anonymous take ages well won’t be known for months, but right now, one NFL executive is divided on just how much Super Bowl runway Buffalo has left. Come September, Josh Allen and company will plead their case on the football field during a quest for a Super Bowl title.
