The Brooklyn Nets have an opportunity to bring on one of the most exciting players in the 2026 NBA Draft in Darius Acuff Jr.

When the Nets go on the clock for the No. 6 pick, they’ll have a shot at Acuff, who has been projected to go to Brooklyn on quite a few mock drafts. The Nets are certainly entertaining it, as the freshman guard confirmed that he met with the team while at the combine in Chicago.

“Definitely a superstar point guard,” Acuff told reporters. “I’ll bring a lot of excitement to any city I go to. … A lot of accolades. Being on a winning team. It starts with the point guard.”

The Nets could certainly use a star point guard to rely on. If they can get it in the form of a homegrown prospect, that would be the best-case scenario.

Currently, the Nets are one of the Eastern Conference’s clear rebuilding organizations. They don’t have pressure to win as early as next season. With a young roster, a player like Acuff would get immediate playing time, and plenty of it. That would help generate instant development.

Acuff Emerges As a Top Prospect

Arkansas Razorbacks Darius Acuff Jr. NBA Draft

GettyArkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr. is playing like a Wooden Award contender and could be Memphis’ long-term answer at No. 8 in the 2026 NBA Draft.

When it came to his recruitment, Acuff was widely viewed as a five-star player.

Coming out of the famous IMG Academy in Florida, Acuff garnered attention from one of the top college coaches, John Calipari. He started all 36 games for Arkansas, seeing the court for 35.1 minutes per game.

With 35.1 minutes per game, Acuff shot 48.4% from the field and knocked down 44.0% of his threes. He produced 23.5 points per game, while dishing out 6.4 assists per game. Both of those averages led the SEC conference.

Acuff earned superstar accolades in college, getting attention as the SEC Rookie of the Year, SEC Player of the Year, First-Team All-American, and was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

Now, he’s hunting for the same kind of acknowledgments in the NBA. Will it be with the Brooklyn Nets? Only time will tell.
