Packers Named Possible Fit for Tyreek Hill in Free Agency

The Green Bay Packers have gone through some notable changes at the wide receiver positions so far during the 2026 NFL offseason.

First, the team saw Romeo Doubs leave town to sign with the New England Patriots. He has been arguably the team’s No. 1 wideout for Jordan Love over the last couple of years. The Packers will need to figure out how to replace him.

After that move, Green Bay opted to trade Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Right now, the Packers have Christian Watson, the newly extended Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, Savion Williams, and Bo Melton penciled in as their top five receivers. There is a lot of talent in that group, but there is no clear top weapon for Love.

Could Green Bay still be in the market to add a wide receiver late in NFL free agency? There are a few good options still available.

Packers Linked to Potential Long Shot Move for Tyreek Hill

One potential option could be Tyreek Hill. Just a few short years ago, he was one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. Now, he remains a free agent waiting for his next opportunity.

Last season with the Miami Dolphins on September 29, Hill went down with a gruesome leg injury. He suffered dislocated knee, torn ACL, and other ligament damage as well. When the injury occurred, he was expected to miss nine to 15 months.

That timeline could put his 2026 season in jeopardy. More than likely, teams are waiting for more updates on Hill’s health before offering him a contract.

Keeping that in mind, Wendell Ferreira of AtoZ Sports thinks that Hill would be a good fit for Green Bay. He does, however, admit that the move is a long shot to actually happen.

“It’s hard to foresee the Packers actually pulling this off, but in his last healthy season (2024), Hill had 81 receptions for 959 yards and six touchdowns — he had had 119 catches for 1,799 yards and 13 TDs in 2023,” Ferreira wrote.

“He succeeded in a similar offensive structure under Mike McDaniel, so you can easily see the fit and there’s no need to project much — as long as he’s fully healthy and still reasonably athletic for his own standards.”

A Healthy Tyreek Hill Could Change Everything for Green Bay

Should Hill be able to bounce back to full health, he would be exactly the kind of top-tier playmaker the Packers’ offense has needed.

Love has not had a true superstar weapon to work with since coming into the NFL. Hill would be the first of that kind of player Green Bay has had since Davante Adams left.

No one should expect him to get back to the 119 catch, 1,799-yard, and 13 touchdown season that he had back in 2023. But, the numbers he produced in 2024, which Ferreira mentioned above and mistakenly claimed they were in 2023, would be ideal.

Again, the Packers are very unlikely to actually sign Hill. Despite that fact, he’s an intriguing option to think about.
