Philadelphia 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe delivered one of the most memorable performances of the postseason in Game 2 against the Boston Celtics. He scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, becoming the first rookie since Tim Duncan in 1998 to reach those marks in a playoff game, Sixerswire reports. He also did it while battling through back discomfort after a hard fall early in the game that forced two trips to the locker room.

“I didn’t even remember doing it,” Edgecombe said, referring to the now-viral wink that quickly spread across social media. “My teammates in the locker room were like, ‘Bro, you’re always aura farming.’”

The moment came late in the game, with cameras appearing to catch him winking toward the lens. Edgecombe clarified that the gesture had nothing to do with the audience.

“Nah, I was looking at my teammate, and he was just in the line of the camera,” he said at practice. “I think it was either KO or PG. That’s what I was looking at when I did that.”

“I just try not to overthink it,” he said. “I try not to put pressure on myself. Everybody’s already putting pressure on us to perform.”

He credited his teammates for keeping him grounded and confident throughout the game. “I’m around a great group of guys. That helps me. Just keep instilling confidence in me. Just to keep going.”

Even the physical toll of the game did not slow him down. Despite the early fall and visible discomfort, Edgecombe dismissed any lingering concern ahead of Game 3.

“I ain’t sore,” he said. “I’m good. I’m ready to go play basketball. I got a lot of treatment, take care of my body, and I’ve been doing that prior.”
