Lions fan Ryan Kennedy has released a statement amidst the lawsuit stemming from the DK Metcalf incident.

One of the most significant moments of the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ 2025 season came off the field just days before Christmas. While on the sidelines during his team’s game against the Detroit Lions on December 21st, two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf was involved in an altercation with a Lions fan. In fact, he even took a swing at the fan, who later filed a $100 million lawsuit against the former Seahawk.

However, according to multiple reports, Metcalf will not be charged for the altercation. The two-game suspension was all he had to serve for his part in the incident.

DK Metcalf Looks to Have a Better 2026 With the Pittsburgh Steelers

GettyDK Metcalf led the Steelers in receiving last season.

After being traded from Seattle last offseason, Metcalf had his fair share of highs and lows with his new team. He did end up leading Pittsburgh in receiving yards (850) and touchdown catches (6). However, he had the suspension, and his 99 targets, along with those aforementioned 850 receiving yards, were both career lows. His 59 receptions and his average of 3.93 receptions per game were both the second-worst marks of his seven-year career. Had he not been suspended for the final two weeks of the season, those numbers likely would’ve vastly improved.

Heading into the 2026 season, he will look to have a bounce-back kind of season. After the organization traded for two-time 1,000-yard wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. earlier this offseason, Metcalf will have the chance to be a part of one of the better receiving duos in the sport. Plus, with future first-ballot Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers likely on his way back to playing one more year in Pittsburgh, he could get the chance to catch passes with his training camp roommate once more.

Steelers Should Have a Revamped Offense Under Mike McCarthy

Mike McCarthy

GettyMike McCarthy is entering his 19th season as an NFL head coach.

In former Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin‘s final season with the team last season, Pittsburgh’s offense was not particularly prolific despite the consistency of Rodgers under center. It finished 25th in total offense (305.6 YPG), 22nd in passing offense (202.4 YPG), and 26th in rushing offense (103.3 YPG). But somehow, someway, the Steelers found a way to win 10 games and win the AFC North for the first time in five years. Perhaps it was their ability to be good situationally and take care of the football. They were one of eight teams to have 15 giveaways or fewer.

With Mike McCarthy taking over as head coach, Steelers fans should feel excited about the potential of their offense. Known for his ability to draft and develop good quarterbacks, he is on track to do the same thing with his new team. If he reunites with Rodgers for one more run, he would have a future Hall of Famer in the fold with developmental quarterbacks in Will Howard and rookie Drew Allar behind him. Furthermore, McCarthy notably helped Rodgers win two MVPs and earn seven Pro Bowl nods during their 13 years together with the Green Bay Packers.
