Christian Nørgaard has officially retired from international football after Denmark failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ending a national team career that included 41 appearances and several major tournaments.

The experienced midfielder, now playing for Arsenal after his move from Brentford in 2025, announced the decision in an emotional Instagram statement. The retirement comes at a difficult moment for Danish football following a disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign under coach Brian Riemer.

“Now it’s finished. I’m looking forward to backing up as a fan, but no longer as a part of the squad. Thank you, players, staff, and fans, for helping make a boy’s dream come true.”
