McDavid motivated to win Stanley Cup with Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers-Anaheim Ducks first-round series in the NHL playoffs has been nothing short of highly entertaining. Each game has featured a plethora of goals, and after being down 3-1 in the series, Edmonton responded in game five with a 4-1 victory, but now has to head on the road to Honda Center in Anaheim, California, to try and stave off elimination once again.

The highly anticipated game six between the Ducks and Oilers is set for Thursday at 10:00 p.m. EST. It’s one of two NHL playoff games on the slate (Game six between Stars-Wild). Ducks-Oilers will be broadcast on TNT/TruTV and HBO Max (streaming).

Betting Preview of Oilers vs. Ducks

Connor McDavid

GettyConnor McDavid and the Oilers are set to take on the Anaheim Ducks in a pivotal game six matchup.

After the Oilers won the first game of this series, the Ducks responded with three straight wins to take a commanding 3-1 lead. In games two and three, Edmonton had some serious goaltending/defensive issues (giving up 6 and 7 goals), but the Oilers have responded well by only giving up five goals in the last two games of the series. Connor Ingram, who allowed just one goal to the Ducks on Tuesday night, is expected to get the start, but that’s subject to change.

Edmonton comes into this crucial game six as the slight betting favorite.

Odds are courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook, and are subject to change:

Moneyline: Edmonton Oilers (-130, $130 bet wins $100), Anaheim Ducks (+110, $100 bet wins $110)

Puck line (+1.5) Oilers -1.5: +180, Ducks +1.5: -218

The Anaheim Ducks have covered the puck line of +1.5 in all by one game this series.

Over/Under goals scored (6.5): Over 6.5 (-162) Under 6.5 (+136)

There has been a plethora of goals scored in this series, and that line of over 6.5 total goals scored in the game has hit four of the first five games.

Prediction Time!!

Edmonton Oilers fans could get good injury news regarding Connor McDavid, if the opinion of one Medical Expert proves correct.

This series will return to Edmonton for game seven. Give me the Oilers moneyline to extend this exciting first-round matchup. The value is about as good as you’ll get, and I think the Oilers defense started to figure out the Ducks offense in game five, and the expectation is that Edmonton will play as the much more aggressive team, being that they are on the brink of elimination. Expect Connor McDavid to have one of his all-time performances in game six.

Per ZachCav on X.com, the Oilers have won three of their last five elimination games on the road.

If you live on the Eastern side of the U.S., this will be a late start time, but it’s a must-see NHL playoff game, especially with Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Cutter Gauthier, and Leo Carlsson.

It’s a star-studded matchup, and it would be a massive disappointment if the Oilers, who have reached the Stanley Cup Finals in the last two seasons, don’t advance past the first round.
