Jon Rahm LIV contract

Jon Rahm is in contention at the PGA Championship, but his LIV contract has been in the news recently.

The future of LIV might be uncertain, but it sure seems Jon Rahm will be in the mix as long as it exists under his current contract.

Rahm finally got his game together for a major at the 2026 PGA Championship, where he entered the final round in contention and immediately made an impact with birdies at the first and second holes to start his day.

The Spaniard would love to add to his trophy case by securing the first Wanamaker Trophy of his career, and the $3.7 million for winning wouldn’t be bad either. Although it’s not like Rahm needs the money.

He’s still in the middle of a historic LIV contract that will pay a reported $300 million just to play in the league. It’s unclear when Rahm’s deal comes to an official end, but reports indicate he is signed through 2028 and perhaps even 2029.

The uncertainty extends beyond a lack of clarity on actual details. The Saudi Arabia PIF recently announced it is pulling its funding from LIV Golf. Considering Rahm is still owed a bunch of money, it’s possible a lack of funding could affect his contract status. However, speaking ahead of LIV Golf Virginia, Rahm acknowledged he could be calling LIV home for a while.

“I’ll say I’m also not a lawyer,” he told reporters in early May. “I have no idea. I couldn’t tell you. I have very few talents in my life, and reading a contract or business are not two of them.

“Again, like you just said, as of right now, I have several years on my contract left, and I’m pretty sure they did a pretty good job when they drafted that. So I don’t see many ways out, and as of right now, I’m not really thinking about it since we still have a season to play and majors to compete for. So it’s not something I want to think about just yet.”

That $300 million doesn’t even count the money he makes on the course, either. Rahm has made more than $16 million this season alone in on-course earnings. In two-plus seasons on LIV, he has taken home more than $93 million. That obviously doesn’t count the comparatively paltry $2 million he made in the majors he has played since joining LIV.

According to Spotrac, Rahm has made more than $180 million in on-course earnings for his career. To put that in perspective, Tiger Woods is the all-time leader in career earnings on the PGA Tour with $121 million, while Rahm’s contemporaries — Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler — come in just behind Woods at $115 million and $110 million, respectively.
