Rich Eisen Shares Thoughts on Aaron Rodgers Visiting Stee...

The Pittsburgh Steelers are this close to finally bringing back four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers for another season. According to multiple reports, the 42-year-old quarterback is flying to Pittsburgh this weekend and will meet with the organization about potentially playing for it in 2026. While no deal has been reached yet, the belief is that he will likely play for the Steelers this season.

Longtime NFL host Rich Eisen recently shared his thoughts on the idea of Rodgers likely landing back with the Steelers once more. He is of the belief that this is a great thing for the NFL.

The Pittsburgh Steelers Are Making the Right Decision

Aaron Rodgers

GettyAaron Rodgers went 10-6 as the Steelers’ starter in 2025.

Here is what Eisen had to say via The Rich Eisen Show on Thursday about the legendary quarterback likely coming back for a second run in the Steel City:

“The Steelers with Rodgers at that quarterback spot are much more exciting to see and watch…I kind of dig it. I’m excited. This excites me. The league’s more interesting with Rodgers in it.”

It sure looks like Aaron Rodgers has given #HereWeGo an update on his plans for the 2026 season (he’s returning) — should this excite fans? #NFL

If a deal can be reached by both sides, not only would Rodgers return to play for the Steelers for a second season, but he would reunite with his former Green Bay Packers head coach, Mike McCarthy. The duo previously spent 13 seasons together (2006-2018), with the latter 11 coming with Rodgers as the starter. Thanks to McCarthy’s leadership, Rodgers ended up winning two of his first four MVPs and reaching seven Pro Bowls. Green Bay also took home Super Bowl XLV over the Steelers, ironically enough.

This is a great move by the Steelers if everything comes to fruition. Rodgers’ career portfolio speaks for itself, and his performance last season in Pittsburgh is proof that he is the team’s best option for this upcoming season.

Aaron Rodgers Is Still as Valuable as Ever

Pittsburgh Steelers

GettyAaron Rodgers posted a passer rating of 94.8 in 2025.

In 2025, Rodgers ended up recording 25 total touchdowns and just seven interceptions for Pittsburgh. He might not have thrown 50 touchdowns or been his 2011 self, but he was extremely valuable. His consistency and steadiness were very evident. If it wasn’t for his efforts game in and game out, the Steelers likely wouldn’t have won their first AFC North title in five years. The media and fans should not waste their time placing blame on Rodgers for the team’s postseason loss to the Houston Texans, which also signified the end of Mike Tomlin‘s run in Pittsburgh.

Even though he showed some injury concerns last season with his fractured wrist and lack of mobility, it felt like he was yet again hoisting his offense up on his shoulders. Heading into the 2026 season, the Steelers added veteran skill players in two-time 1,000-yard receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and 1,000-yard rusher Rico Dowdle this offseason. This offense has a great shot to be even better than it was a season ago. Plus, Rodgers’ previous history with McCarthy should provide an opportunity for the offense to stretch the field in a big way.
