MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN - OCTOBER 22: Giannis Antetokounmpo #34 of the Milwaukee Bucks reacts against the Washington Wizards during the second quarter at Fiserv Forum on October 22, 2025 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Milwaukee Bucks are open to hearing offers for a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade, as was most recently reported by Shams Charania of ESPN.

Antetokounmpo’s name isn’t new to trade rumors, as throughout the season, and more specifically in the lead-up to the trade deadline, there were major reports and rumors about the Bucks moving their disgruntled superstar in hopes of starting fresh.

Milwaukee chose not to move Antetokounmpo at the deadline, but after that, his qualms with the team grew over keeping him out with an injury, subsequently reigniting reports about his uncertain future and a potential trade.

But now, as Charania most recently announced, the Bucks are officially open to hearing Antetokounmpo trade offers, with his future in Milwaukee more uncertain than ever before.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade: Shams Confirms Bucks Rumors

In a post on X and article on ESPN.com, Charania reported that the Bucks are now ‘seeking trade offers for Giannis Antetokounmpo.’

The Milwaukee Bucks are open for business on trade calls and offers for two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo entering the NBA combine and over six weeks away from the draft, sources told ESPN.

New on ESPN:

“The Milwaukee Bucks are open for business on trade calls and offers for two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo entering the NBA combine and over six weeks away from the draft, sources told ESPN,” he wrote in a post on X, announcing the news.

Charania has been at the forefront of Antetokounmpo trade rumors for the past year. While the star didn’t get moved at the deadline, which sparked a back-and-forth between Antetokounmpo, former head coach Doc Rivers, the Bucks franchise, and the insider, he’s now confirmed what he previously reported: Milwaukee is open to trading its franchise star.

“The Bucks’ trade saga with Antetokounmpo began a year ago. Last May, Antetokounmpo expressed an openness to finding his best fit outside of Milwaukee,” he wrote.

“Sources tell me that the Milwaukee Bucks are fully open for business on trade calls and offers for Giannis Antetokounmpo..

He’s got just one guaranteed year left on his deal and he has a ton of leverage on where he ends up”

@ShamsCharania #PMSLive

“It all culminated in a season of dysfunction around the Bucks: Antetokounmpo made it clear to the franchise that he was ready to be traded, the team discussed deals at the deadline, and a fractured relationship between the two sides led to him sparking a league investigation into his own organization for shutting him down late in the season with a knee injury.”

The news comes shortly after co-owner Jimmy Haslem spoke to the media, saying the team would decide on an Antetokounmpo trade before the 2026 NBA Draft.

“Sometime over the next six or seven weeks we’ll decide whether Giannis is going to sign a max contract and stay with us or he’s going to play somewhere else,” Haslam said. ” “And [general manager] Jon [Horst] and Taylor, along with [co-owner] Wes [Edens] and myself, will make that call and we understand the gravity of that call.”

Now, it looks like the Bucks have made that decision, as an Antetokounmpo trade looks more real than ever before.

Giannis Trade Rumors: What We Know, Which Teams Are In Play?

GettyMILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN – APRIL 05: Giannis Antetokounmpo #34 of the Milwaukee Bucks works out before the game against the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum on April 05, 2026 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Heading into the 2026 NBA trade deadline, Charania reported that four teams were leading the race to land Antetokounmpo in a trade: the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, and New York Knicks.

The Knicks were the first team linked to an Antetokounmpo trade, as the insider reported last summer that the star entertained the idea of moving to New York, though a deal never went through.

The other three has also been consistently linked to trading for the 2021 Finals MVP, but in the time since, new teams have emerged as frontrunners for an offseason deal.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics are the two big names to keep an eye on heading into the summer.

The Lakers have the cap space and could do a sign-and-trade with Austin Reaves and other assets. They’ve been linked to Antetokounmpo for some time now, and have never struggled in landing superstars throughout NBA history. The idea of pairing him with Luka Doncic only makes a potential Lakers trade all the more intriguing.

As for the Celtics, they are a bit new to the Antetokounmpo trade rumors, but were mentioned by Charania as making a late push for the star at the deadline.

Now, with the growing uncertainty of Jaylen Brown, Boston has been more heavily linked to making a deal for the Greek Freak.

“Sources said postseason teams such as the Minnesota TimberwolvesCleveland CavaliersBoston Celtics, Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers pursued Antetokounmpo at the February deadline, and their finishes to the campaign will play a major factor in their aggressiveness to trade for Antetokounmpo,” Charania wrote.

Latest on Giannis Antetokounmpo trade front, per @ShamsCharania:

– Front office maintaining asking price of "a young blue-chip talent and/or a surplus of draft picks"– Bucks also leaving the door open to pursue a major trade to convince Giannis to stay once again– Wolves,… https://t.co/jyq5818oMf

Unsurprisingly, many other teams appear interested in an Antetokounmpo trade in hopes of landing his services for next season. However, while it’s now confirmed that the Bucks are listening to offers, it is still early in the process, and it will likely take some time before the front office makes a decision, which will likely come after calls with nearly all 29 other NBA teams.

But for now, an Antetokounmpo trade appears to be on the horizon. More news about his future will emerge, but it looks like the two-time Finals MVP and arguably best player in franchise history has played his last game in a Bucks uniform.

In his 13 seasons with Milwaukee, Antetokounmpo sits atop most statistical categories in franchise history, has won two regular-season MVPs, brought the city a championship in 2021 for the first time in 50 years, and has collected several other major accolades in the process.

In those 13 years, he has career averages of 24.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, five assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.2 blocks on 55.4/28.5/69.1 shooting splits in 895 games, and is likely a first-ballot Hall of Famer, whenever his illustrious career does come to an end.
