Abdul Carter called out New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart for introducing president Donald Trump.

He treated introducing President Donald Trump as an “honor,” but Jaxson Dart’s New York Giants teammate Abdul Carter sounds less than impressed by his quarterback’s actions.

Carter posted on ‘X’ on Saturday, May 23 a message tinged with confusion and anger toward the actions of his fellow first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Edge-rusher Carter responded to Dart’s appearance alongside Trump with the blunt words, “thought this [Expletive] was AI, what we doing man(?)”

This is a potentially sensitive call out of Dart’s involvement, however cursory in the country’s political scene. Dart described his appearance at a Trump campaign event on Friday “a privilege,” so the would-be franchise quarterback may not appreciate his teammate’s blunt take.

The curious message also increases the focus on Carter to rebound after a rookie campaign that didn’t meet the hype for the third player taken a year ago.

Abdul Carter’s Jaxson Dart Post Will Raise Eyebrows

It didn’t take long for Carter’s post about Dart’s recent appearance with the president to prompt a concerned reaction. It came from Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, who used an emoji depicting an awkward smile and gritted teeth to convey unease about Carter’s words.

More reactions of a similar nature are sure to follow because the optics don’t look good. Whatever Carter’s political stance, or Dart’s ideology for that matter, a teammate making his opposing view public hardly presents a united front.

Carter and Dart not seeing eye to eye about who sits in the oval office doesn’t have to be a major worry for the Giants. However, the franchise is undergoing yet another rebuilding project, this one fronted by veteran head coach John Harbaugh, who will want his star players on the same page and to keep any possible differences of opinion in-house.

For now, Harbaugh’s primary concern remains getting the most out of two young playmakers set to define the Giants on both sides of the ball.

Giants Need Improvement from 2 Young Stars

Dart and Carter are both under pressure to deliver more during their second seasons. For Carter, that will mean turning pressure into sacks more often, after he “converted just four of his pressures into sacks, he checked in 211th among that group in sack-to-pressure ratio,” according to Jared Dubin of CBS Sports.

Harbaugh and new defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson need more splash plays from Carter, while offensive coordinator Matt Nagy needs Dart to make smarter decisions on the field.

Specifically, the Giants have already been warned to change the rushing plan for Dart, who can be reckless when trusting his legs to beat defenses. He’s making efforts to slim down and get quicker, but the Giants’ coaches need Dart to be more selective about when he runs and avoids contact.

Taking fewer hits is just one part of the process for Dart maturing into a more well-rounded and pro-ready QB1. Nagy has also been called upon to get creative with the playbook to take full advantage of Dart’s talent for playing off-script.

Harbaugh and his staff know that getting Dart and Carter to elevate their respective games is the quickest way for the Giants to become contenders. If they can make it happen, any social media back and forth will be forgotten.
