Right Tackle Blake Miller

On Thursday evening in Pittsburgh, the Detroit Lions got their man, selecting offensive tackle Blake Miller with the 17th overall selection during the opening night of the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Lions, who had the potential to trade the pick to try and either move up in the Draft  or acquire already-established talent, ultimately stood pat and have now welcomed a new face into the fold.

And while the pick is already drawing strong reviews from NFL Insiders across the web, Lions fans themselves are now chiming in with their thoughts on Miller’s arrival in the Motor City.

Detroit Lions Fans React To Selection Of Blake Miller With 17th Overall Pick

The selection of Miller with the 17th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft was met with mostly positive responses from Lions fans.

One fan exclaimed, “This is what I’m talking about dawg good ass pick, him paired with Sewell is gonna be crazy and will 100% buff that o-line, all we need now is some defensive picks and we will be locked!”

This fan said, “Great pick. Zero need to over complicate things there!”

Showing full trust in GM Brad Holmes, this fan exclaimed, “Brad Holmes be cook’n and you couch GMs need to shut your mouth and know your role.”

“I am happy with this pick. He is an experienced RT while we are moving Penei to LT,” said another fan.

“A true Ironman Right Tackle. Never missed a game, tons of experience, only 22 and will only get better with Hank Fraley. Lions fans should be very happy with this pick,” another fan wrote.

Meanwhile, this fan expressed a bit of caution to the selection, saying, “I don’t mind the pick, just having a hard time switching arguably the best RT in the league to LT and hope he can do it at the same level. Especially after last her when seeing Sewell taking a beating on that right side not saying the man can’t do it.”

Blake Miller Set A Clemson School Record

Miller, who played four years at Clemson, started 54 games with the school and ultimately established a new record with 3,778 snaps from scrimmage.

Lions fans will love what NFL Insider Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com had to say about Miller in his pre-draft scouting profile:

“He has ideal size, length and strength for the position,” Jeremiah wrote. “In pass protection, he has enough quickness to cover up speed rushers off the edge. He uses his length and strong hands to latch and control defenders. He can sink his weight and anchor down against power rushers. He plays with awareness to pick up twists and stunts.”

He continued:

“In the run game, he can generate movement on down blocks and he always strains to finish. When working up to linebackers, he’s effective on a single track but struggles to redirect and wall off defenders in space.”

Included on Miller’s resume include the following accolades:

  • First-team All-ACC (2024, 2025)
  • 2023 Third-team All-ACC
  • 2022 Freshman All-American
  • 2022 ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year (College Football Network)
  • Clemson record holder for career snaps (3,778)
