As the golf world turns its attention toward the PGA Championship, Tiger Woods received another major legal development stemming from his March DUI arrest in Florida.

According to reports from ESPN and the New York Post, a Florida judge granted prosecutors access to Woods’ prescription drug records during a hearing Tuesday morning. Judge Darren Steele approved a subpoena request involving records from Lewis Pharmacy in Palm Beach, though the documents will remain sealed from public view.

Woods’ attorney, Douglas Duncan, pushed back on the request during the hearing, arguing that “Mr. Woods has a constitutional right to privacy in the records.” However, Duncan agreed to allow the subpoena if the records were restricted strictly to prosecutors, law enforcement, expert witnesses and Woods’ legal team.

The state is reportedly seeking detailed information regarding prescriptions filled between Jan. 1 and March 27. This includes the number of pills prescribed, dosage information and any warnings connected to the medication, particularly those related to driving.

The latest development comes during a week when Woods would normally be one of the central storylines in the golf world. Instead, the 15-time major champion remains away from the sport while focusing on treatment and his ongoing legal case.

Prosecutors Seeking Details on Tiger Woods Medication History

The subpoena request is directly tied to Woods’ March 27 arrest in Martin County, Florida after authorities said his SUV clipped a trailer and rolled onto its side near his home on Jupiter Island.

Police stated Woods appeared impaired at the scene. While he reportedly passed a Breathalyzer test with no alcohol detected, officers said Woods admitted he had taken “a few pills” before refusing a urine test. Two hydrocodone pills were later allegedly found in his pocket, according to the police report.

Prosecutors are now attempting to determine not only how often Woods filled prescriptions during that time period, but also whether the medication bottles included warnings advising against driving while taking the drugs.

Woods has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor DUI charges as well as refusal to submit to a lawful test and distracted driving violations.

Tigers Woods Remains Away From Golf Amid Treatment

Shortly after the arrest, Woods released a statement announcing he would be stepping away from professional golf to focus on his health and seek treatment.

Multiple reports have indicated Woods entered a rehabilitation facility in Switzerland earlier this spring and is expected to remain there for several months.

The situation marks another difficult chapter in Woods’ long history involving car accidents and injuries. The golf legend was previously arrested for DUI in 2017 before later accepting a plea agreement in that case.

Now, during one of golf’s biggest weeks of the year, Woods once again finds himself making headlines away from the course instead of competing on it.
