Real Madrid CF hosted Real Oviedo at the Santiago Bernabéu on Thursday night in a La Liga Matchday 36 clash. Although the title race had already been decided after FC Barcelona secured the championship, Real Madrid vs Real Oviedo still attracted attention because of the quality on display and the final weeks of the season.

There was better news for Madrid in attack as Kylian Mbappé returned to the squad after missing recent training sessions. He was expected to rejoin Vinícius Júnior in the frontline.

Real Madrid still faced a lengthy injury list in defense. Dani Carvajal, Ferland Mendy, David Alaba, and Éder Militão all remained unavailable with long-term injuries. Arda Güler also stayed sidelined.

For Real Oviedo, interim coach Javier Calleja dealt with multiple suspensions after the club’s relegation was confirmed.

Midfielder Kwasi Sibo and defender Javi López were both suspended after receiving red cards against Getafe CF.

In the attack, Borja Bastón remained unavailable with a muscular injury, increasing pressure on Federico Viñas to provide goals for the visitors.
