Brittany Mahomes shared a health update on May 5, revealing she’s been dealing with a wrist injury for about a year. Her news comes as her husband, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, continues recovering from a season-ending torn ACL and LCC, with the team offering a positive outlook on his progress.

Brittany Mahomes Reveals Ongoing Wrist Injury

Brittany posted a series of updates on Instagram Stories on May 5, showing that she recently sought medical attention after months of dealing with wrist pain. She shared a screenshot of a workout plan and wrote, “My workout yesterday before I finally decided to go to the doctor about my wrist 😵‍💫.”

In a follow-up post, Brittany revealed her diagnosis after looking up her symptoms online. “To find out I have this,” she wrote over a search result for De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, a condition sometimes referred to as “Mother’s wrist.”

“Been battling it for probably around a year now thinking it will just get better, well it never did and started to get pretty bad… so now…” she added.

She later showed her wrist in an Exos brace and wrote, “I get to wear this cool thing,” referring to the support device used to stabilize injuries. Despite the diagnosis, Brittany indicated she plans to continue working out, adding, “But anyways, back to my workout,” alongside videos of her exercise routine.

According to the Mayo Clinic, De Quervain’s tenosynovitis is “a painful condition that affects the tendons on the thumb side of the wrist.” The condition can cause discomfort when turning the wrist, gripping objects, or making a fist. Repetitive hand or wrist movements, including lifting a baby, are listed as possible contributing factors.

Brittany shares three children with Patrick: daughter Sterling Skye, son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, and daughter Golden Raye.

Patrick Mahomes Rehab Update From Chiefs Leadership

While Brittany manages her own injury, Patrick continues his recovery from a torn ACL and LCL suffered in Week 15. Chiefs general manager Brett Veach provided an update during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

“So, needless to say, he’s way ahead of schedule,” Veach said. “I think the biggest challenge that we’re going to have is protecting him from himself.”

Veach described Mahomes’ approach to rehab as consistent and focused, noting that the quarterback has been at the team facility daily.

“This guy has been in the building… every single day,” Veach said. “Even when he goes away for a few days… he takes one of our trainers with him.”

Veach also referenced Mahomes’ past recovery from a knee injury, when he returned to play within weeks, as an example of his determination.

“I knew that this bump on the road wouldn’t slow him down at all,” Veach said.

Head coach Andy Reid has also addressed Mahomes’ recovery timeline, saying the quarterback is in a “good position” to participate in some offseason activities, though the team has not committed to a full workload. Organized Team Activities are scheduled for later this month, with minicamp set for June.

Veach emphasized that the team plans to take a cautious approach as Mahomes progresses.

“I don’t want to put a timetable on it,” he said. “But… we are in a really good place right now.”

The Chiefs are expected to continue evaluating Mahomes’ participation in offseason workouts, with a clearer timeline likely to emerge as training camp approaches in St. Joseph, Missouri.
