Dak Prescott #4 of the Dallas Cowboys in

There have been plenty of years in which backers and observers of the Dallas Cowboys could find reasons to be disappointed in quarterback Dak Prescott. We’ve seen, repeatedly, really, Prescott perform like one of the best players under center in the league, only to eventually peter out in the playoffs–his 2-5 postseason record speaks loudly on that account. But there is no question that when it comes to the weekly grind of the NFL, few quarterbacks show up as consistently as Prescott.

Last season, most would agree, the Cowboys finished 7-9-1 on the year, and that was not the fault of Prescott. He had a brilliant year, throwing for 4,552 yards and 30 touchdowns with 10 interceptions on the season. The Cowboys finished No. 2 in the league in yardage and passing yardage.

Credit Prescott for that.

Cowboys Know Dak Prescott’s Consistency

But offensive coordinator Klayton Adams sees that there can be improvement ahead for both Prescott and the Cowboys offense as a whole. Speaking on “The Insiders” on NFL Network, Adams talked about Prescott’s “ultimate goal” for 2026. ”

“I think there has been a lot of years where people would say what he’s done has been good enough. I think what the ultimate goal for him is he’s got to play really high-level football every single week,” Adams said. “He’s done that a lot throughout his career. We’ve got to make up for the other areas that have maybe failed him in the past.

“I don’t think it’s about Dak trying to be Superman, I think it’s about Dak being the best version of himself, and us finding ways to make the rest of the offense and the rest of the team better.”
